Introduction
• The concept of the 5 Kingdoms of Nature is inspired by the work of Prof. Dr. Lynn Margulis in her milestone reference work "The 5 Kingdoms of Nature."
• The name kingdom is scientifically very much accepted, though some prefer to talk about domains as to make this more gender neutral. ZERI has maintained the kingdom reference, since it speaks to the imagination of the children.

What is a nature kingdom?
• Is the distribution of the live organisms in the world that are separated in some groups wit the same characteristics.

Animalia
• The Animal Kingdom is at once the Kingdom most and least familiar to us.
• . On the other hand, over 100,000 species in some 25 animal phyla -- mostly small worms -- are so unfamiliar that they are virtually unknown to non-scientists.
• All the animals are in groups like: mamals, fish, reptils, anphibians, insects, etc.

Plantae
• Plants have organs and organ systems. The leaves collect and absorb sunlight to convert to glucose. The leaves have a waxy coat on them to shield against water. The root system, which branches out, provides support and absorbs water. The stem provides support and the petal / flower / bud is the reproductive organ of the plant.

Fungi
• Mushrooms, mold and mildew are all examples of organisms in the kingdom fungi.
• Most fungi are multicellular and consists of many complex cells.
• Fungi are organisms that biologists once confused with plants, however, unlike plants, fungi cannot make their own food. Most obtain their food from parts of plants that are decaying in the soil

Monera and protista
• Slime molds and algae are protists.
• Monera is a kingdom that contains unicellular organisms with a prokaryotic cell organization, (having no nuclear membrane), such as bacteria.
