THE EIGHT-CIRCUIT BRAINOverview

The “Eight-Circuit Brain” or the “Eight Levels of Consciousness” is an esoteric model developed by Timothy Leary and later added to by Robert Anton Wilson and Antero Alli. All three contributed to this model at different stages in time and brought there own insights into it; interconnecting different theories and systems of thought. These eight levels/circuits are used as an eight-fold model to increase intelligence and further the evolution of the human species.

This esoteric model describes consciousness consisting of eight “circuits”, “gears”, “energies”, or “mini-brains” acting simultaneously and working together as a dynamic whole. By materializing this model in ones mind, increasing intelligence can be defined as a process of absorbing, integrating, and transmitting experience through each of the circuits (with each circuit handling the process in its own unique way). Through practice of direct experience and integration of this model; consciousness evolves.

It has been said that if the “Eight-Circuit Brain” is only understood within the “mind”; that is where it stays. Once this model is actualized and put into operation the goal is to eventually become free of it.

During these times of the very realistic global “peaks” and speculations of “the end of days” will humans choose to change their behavior both internally and externally? It is up to each individual to find their own personal integrity and commitment to change. This model may contain the blueprints for the history and future of humankind.

Are you ready to change?

THE EIGHT-CIRCUITS

From Timothy Leary’s Books: Exo-Psychology and NeuroLogic

The Eight Circuits of the Nervous System

(also known as Eight Brains, Intelligences, Functions)

The Terrestrial Circuits

1. The Biosurvival Circuit: Imprinted in infancy. Concerned with sucking, nourishment,

cuddling, biosecurity.

Physical Intelligence

2. The Emotional-Territorial Circuit: Imprinted in the toddling stage. Concerned with

territorial demands, emotional power tactics, political domination-and-submission

strategies.

Emotional Intelligence

3. The Semantic Circuit: Imprinted by human artifacts and symbol systems.

Concerned with handling the environment, invention, calculation, prediction, building

a 'map' of the universe.

Conceptual Intelligence

4. The Socio-Sexual Circuit: Imprinted by the first orgasm-mating experiences and

tribal 'morals.' Concerned with sexual pleasure, local definitions of 'moral' and

'immoral,' reproduction, nurture of the young.

Social Intelligence

The Extraterrestrial Circuits

5. The Neurosomatic Circuit: Imprinted by ecstatc experience via physiological or

chemical yogas. Concerned with neurological-somatic (body-brain) feedbacks,

feeling high, somatic reprogramming.

Sensory Intelligence

6. The Neuroelectric Circuit: Imprinted by advanced yogas. Concerned with

reimprinting and reprogramming all earlier circuits, relativity of 'realities' perceived,

cybernetic consciousness.

Psychic Intelligence

7. The Neurogenetic Circuit: Imprinted by advanced yogas. Concerned with

evolutionary consciousness (past and future), DNA-RNA-Brain feedbacks, Jung's

'Collective Unconscious.'

Mythic Intelligence

8. The Neuroatomic Circuit: Imprinted by shock or near-death experience.

Concerned with quantum consciousness, non-local awareness (beyond spacetime),

so-called 'PSI' or 'magick' powers, illumination.

Spiritual Intelligence

THE EIGHT-CIRCUIT BRAINKey Facts

•In the early 1960’s, “Professor Adams”, a Hindu Scholar from Rutger’s University visited Timothy Leary at his estate in Millbrook and initiated him into the esoteric practices of the Hindu Chakra System. Leary replaced the word chakra with the word “circuit” and added post-modern terminology from genetics and quantum physics to later publish the eight-circuit model in his book; Exo-Psychology.

•Consciousness is a subjective experience, an awareness, or the executive control system over the nervous system.

•Trans-substantiation fixates consciousness beyond the finite domain of the physical body towards communion with the Infinite and sanctions a Disembodied Spirituality in the Guru/Sannyasa traditions.

•The process of absorbing, integrating, and transmitting information to increase intelligence parallels the tertiary function of the neuron.

•“RAW” (Robert Anton Wilson) or “Bob” Wilson remained loyal to Timothy Leary’s model while expanding it with humor and fearlessness to multiple systems of theory.

•The Eight-Circuit Brain integrated with Quantum Mechanics, Behaviorism, Semantics, Superluminal Physics, Zen, Freud, Sociology, Political Science and many more.

•RAW brought Georges I. Gurdjieff’s work with the law of octaves and “vibration” numbers to the 8 circuits.

•RAW also added the concepts of circuit “catalysts” and “Chapel Perilous” to the model.

•Antero Alli contributed new ideas and applications for specific ways the upper and lower circuits act on each other. He added the concepts of “fixations”, “anchors”, the nature of “shocks”, the “verticality factor” and many more dynamics to the model.
