THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD JANUARY 7, 2018

FROM THE PASTOR

My Dear Parishioners,

Praised be Jesus Christ! As we start this New Year, I want to thank all of you for your personal expressions of kindness, goodness and graciousness extended to me over the past several weekends. I am grateful. I also thank all who contributed so much to make our Christmas Celebraon such a fing tribute to our Lord Jesus. To those who

decorated both the inside and outside of our Church, to our music ministers, lectors, servers, extraordinary ministers, ushers and all who were scheduled for the Christmas Celebraons, I say THANK YOU. There was great joy experienced by all who worshiped with us in those days and great witness was given to all our guests. May that Joy and Witness connue in us throughout this New Year.

As we experience such cold weather, the last thing on your minds might be our Air Condioning System, but that’s the first thing on my mind this week as work on the replacing our Air Condioning System begins. Join me in welcoming to our Church Mr. Steven Schneider and his team of workers who will be with us over the next six weeks installing a new state-of-the-art AC System. This work will include the removal and replacement of both the outside units and the air handlers which sit up on the choir lo. So it’ll be quite the project, but it will have minimal bearing on our weekend worship. Updates will be provided throughout the course of the work. Please join me in praying for a safe, smooth and successful accomplishment of this work. The AC collecon which was taken up last summer raised over $65,000 and that will indeed cover the vast majority of this project which will cost $73,000.

With the start of 2018, we are entering into a very excing year for our parish family. Some major events and happenings are already in view. Please note the following:

1) Our Parish’s 150th Jubilee Celebraon is now just one year away…2019. So this year, expect to hear announcements of how to be involved. The Jubilee Calendar is being finalized and dates for various community events, trips, celebraons and of course a Grand Gala to close the year will be set. Ancipate 2018 to be a year of geng on-board so that 2019 may be a year of celebraon and witness.

2) The 2018 Lenten Season. That’s right, Ash Wednesday is on February 14th. Just one month away. This Lent, our parish will be parcipang once again in the REACH MORE Small Groups and also in a Naonal Survey called the Discipleship Maker Index. This naonally recognized survey assists parish communies to idenfy the make up, character, strengths and needs of their community. More informaon will be forthcoming, but for now ancipate an acve Lenten Season in which we will be moving to engage one another and our parish on a new level, with the aim of strengthening our families, our people and our faith!

3) Finally, 2018 marks the end of my third year here at St. Patrick and in coordinaon with our Parish Jubilee and Parish Councils, we will embark on our next campus project which will be the beauficaon of our Church Building. The successful and much appreciated Courtyard project has shown us what we can do outside and now it’s me to provide for the inside of our lovely Church. Our Church received some TLC during the last Jubilee 25 years ago and it‘s me to provide some more. An inial commiee has been formed, plans, ideas, even drawings and numbers are on the table and 2018 will bring forth an excing vision that will not only glorify God but will bless of our parish for generaons to come.

A Happy New Year to everyone! Keep connected to all these things via Flocknote, Facebook and most of all stay connected to one another and to the Lord!

Peace, Fr. Rogers 236

Church Basement-Aer 9AM, 10:30AM &

12:00PM Masses

Today is Epiphany Sunday, and the star of the gospel

is-literally-a star. It is the original GPS device, guiding

the Magi from the east toward Christ. The star re-

minds us of the reason for the season. The very word

Epiphany means “manifestation.” An intuitive grasp

of reality through something simple and striking.

Something as simple as a child. Something as striking

as a star.

The search for the “Messiah of

the Jews” upon which the Magi

embarked was completed with

solemn and joyous results.

Let us hope that all humanity may find Him in the jour-

ney of life. 236
