Training Programmes 2013/14 Our aspirations are limited only by our imaginations www.niesbud.nic.in The Institute’s faculty comprises of senior and experienced professionals with specialization in the areas of Entrepreneurial Competency and Motivation; Project Identification and Formulation; Finance and Credit; Small Enterprise Management; Women Entrepreneurship; Intellectual The Institute is functioning from its own Wi-Fi enabled integrated Campus spread over an area of 10,000 sq. mtrs. While it is in the State of Uttar Pradesh, just 3 kms. from one of the borders of New Delhi, the distance between national/ international Airports and the Institute is about 40 kms. The 07 well-furnished Conference/Training/Seminar Halls are equipped with the latest training-aid equipment for effective teaching. Besides, the Institute has spacious Auditorium fitted with latest equipment for accommodating large gathering of 100 persons. The Institute is empaneled by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, for organizing International Training Programmes under Indian Technical Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Special Commonwealth Assistance for Africa Programme (SCAAP) and TCS of Colombo Plan Fellowships/Schemes of the Ministry. The Institute as on March 31, 2013 has trained 2,453 international participants from over 125 countries through 158 training programmes. The recent publications of the Institute are: “Learn to Earn” - An Introduction to Entrepreneurship for School Students; Text Books on Computer Hardware & Networking; Food Processing; Desktop Publishing and Entrepreneurship Development and a Book on Training Programme: Employability & Entrepreneurship Skills. The Institute also brings out a quarterly Newsletter containing information about the Institute’s activities, its forthcoming programmes/activities and the important events in MSME sector. The course material of the Module has been incorporated in a C.D. which is moderately priced. The Module is especially useful for the persons who are not in a position to devote full time in formal classroom environment. The Module involves one-day introductory classroom training followed by 5 days’ of on-line training. After an on-line examination/assessment, the participant is awarded Certificate on line. The Module is very popular among students of management and technical institutions of higher learning. The Entrepreneurial Motivation Training Kit has been assembled by the Institute and is a collection of six games & exercises (Ring Toss, Tower Building, Convince and Crown, Thematic Apperception Test - Transparencies, Achievement Planning, Objective – Sheets & Broken Squares). It is a tested aid for developing entrepreneurial behaviour and motivation. During the course of a programme, these exercises/tools are important in generating useful data which is of immense importance to the trainers for not only in identification and selection of entrepreneurs/trainees for any EDP but also strengthen entrepreneurial competencies. All the rooms are air-conditioned and also have inter-alia the facility of televisions. Besides being Wi-Fi enabled, the Campus’s Computer Lab is equipped with latest facilities. The Institute’s Library is well stocked with latest books, publications, magazines and journals related to entrepreneurship, management and MSME development. Nearly 5,300 volumes relating to entrepreneurship, more than 100 national and international journals and periodicals are valuable source of information to entrepreneurs, professionals and researchers in the field of entrepreneurship. Adequate facilities are available for both in- door games and outdoor as well. The Incubator sponsored by the Ministry of MSME and functioning at the Campus of the Institute has been instrumental in providing hands-on training and familiarizing the beneficiaries with the real factory/ market conditions/situations. The Centre is equipped with the latest cutting, sewing and embroidery machines including single needle lock stitch, over lock stitch and inter lock stitch sewing machines which go towards providing a practical orientation/ environment to the beneficiaries. Garment Incubation Centre The Cluster Approach for development of the MSME Sector has been found to be very cost effective, the world over. The Institute has been actively involved in undertaking developmental programmes (Soft and Hard Interventions) in Clusters in different capacities. The experience of the Institute in Brass Cluster, Moradabad; Textile Cluster, Pilkhuwa and Scissors Cluster, Meerut has been quite enriching and productive. Clusters Self-renovation and Organisational Growth The Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) have been found to be a major and crucial area in the functioning of the units and development of the MSME Sector. The Centre, operational at the Campus of the Institute provides all facilitation/ assistance under one roof to the units located in its vicinity for identification, registration, protection and management of Intellectual Property Rights, as a business tool. The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) was set up on 6th July 1983, by the then Ministry of Industry (now Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), Government of India. The basic objectives of the Institute are : promotion and development of micro, small and medium enterprises including enhancement of their competitiveness through different interventions.

The major activities of the Institute include, evolving model syllabi for training various target groups; providing effective training strategies, methodology, manuals and tools; facilitating and supporting Central/

Major Areas of InterventionThe Institute being an apex body in the area of promotion of entrepreneurship and small business development, offers innovative training packages for different target groups - entrepreneurs, trainers, promoters, development functionaries etc. The courses content of the programmes are continually revised to keep them in tune with the changing environment and contemporary trends/practices.

The Institute as on March 31, 2013 has provided training to 1,58,700 persons through 5,951 training programmes.

The Institute plans to provide training to more than 80,000 beneficiaries during 2013-14.

The Research and Developmental activities have been an integral part of multifarious activities of the Institute. These activities are undertaken with the broad objective of promotion of the MSME Sector. The year 2012-13 saw the Institute completing 07 evaluation/research studies. The Institute is working on a number of evaluation/research studies at present which are at different stages of completion.

The Institute organizes different training programmes under the Assistance to Training Institutions (ATI) Scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). These training activities generally ranging from 100 hours to 300 hours are organized in small towns and rural areas of 15 States/U.T. all over the northern region of the country and are free of cost.The basic objective of these activities is to promote establishment of micro enterprises by the trained persons and improving the employability of the beneficiaries for wage-employment. The Trainers’ Training Programmes under the Scheme aim at improving functional efficiency and effectiveness of the trainers in respective areas.
