THE FAITH HOME MINISTRY & FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES

In 1952, the Lighthouse Gospel Mission began in downtown Tampa as a rescue mission, and in 1961, the Christian Rehabilitation Home was established in Riverview, Florida, as a ministry of the Lighthouse Gospel Mission. In 1991, the Faith Home Regeneration Program for men was founded in its current format. Today, the ministry operates a food bank, prison and jail ministry, thrift store, nursing home ministry, extensive community outreach programs, Christmas of Hope, Thanksgiving of Hope, and Easter of Hope at our local church, the Lighthouse Revival Center. Pastor Furr received the vision for the current Faith Homes as he was personally delivered in a similar ministry many years ago. We believe after saying “No,” to drugs, alcohol, etc., we must say “Yes to Jesus.” The power to change lives comes only through a surrender of ourselves to God through Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is this process of surrender and renewing of the mind (Romans 12:2) by God’s Word (the Bible), that transforms an individual into a new creation (II Cor. 5:17), with a new attitude and a desire to live a productive Christian life.

THE REGENERATION MINISTRY

Regeneration means to bring to a new state, to be made new. The 18-month curriculum is designed to bring the student (we call those who are in the program students, because they are students of a new lifestyle and God’s Word,) to a new understanding of who their Creator intended them to be, also that there is a better life to be had as we begin to see who we really are in Christ, and that our attitudes and choices have brought us to a point of desperation in our lives such as the loss of family, friends, relationships, careers, possessions, etc.

WE BELIEVE

THERE IS HOPE FOR THE ADDICTED THE ROOT PROBLEM IS MAN’S SEPARATION FROM GOD (SIN) NOT

DRUGS OR ALCOHOL

THE PERMANENT CURE IS TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST

CHRIST WITHIN A PERSON CHANGES THEIR DESIRES, ATTITUDES AND GIVES A NEW FUTURE HOPE

STUDENT ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM

The following explanation of the Student Accountability System is to ensure that all students understand how it works. If any student is involved in any of the following infractions, families are to bring it to the attention of the staff so that the matter may be handled appropriately.

1. Speaking negative about the Ministry

2. Speaking negative about a staff member 3. Asking family member to break Faith Home rules

4. When on pass smoking, or drinking

5. Watch negative movies on cable TV

6. Fellowshipping with someone of bad influences

7. Always has a reason to leave the Faith Home

8. Bad attitudes during visitation

9. Always asking to bring medication

10. Listening to bad music

11. Always controlling and making ungodly demands

FAMILIES DON’T BE A HINDERANCE TO THEIR SPIRITUAL GROWTH HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE

FAITH HOME – OUTLINE PURPOSE: After saying no to drugs, alcohol, etc., we believe the men and women of the Faith Home will say “Yes” to Jesus. In that relationship, they will develop a passion for Jesus and will have a higher purpose other than being drug and alcohol free. We believe they will become responsible husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers and will fulfill their call to disciple others to Christ. VISION: Matthew 25:35-36, Acts 26:18, Luke 4:18-19 Our mission and call from God is clear. It is to meet the physical needs of people (Matt. 25:35-36), so we may then present to them the Gospel (Good News- Acts 26:18), to turn them from a life of sin and blindness to the truth of the destruction it has brought in their lives, and to bring reality of forgiveness into their lives, forgiveness from a good and loving God, to teach them a life lived by “Faith” that places them in position to know they are children of God and that God has numerous promises in His Word to bless believers, and to understand that God is a loving Father that desires to bless His children.

This is a halfway program for those students that have successfully completed the course of study. Students obtain outside jobs with the objective of saving money, allowing for the first step back into society after being in a structured and protected environment, while still maintaining a strong accountability system. Independent studies are required as well as adherence to rules.

GED CLASSES

Today, the GED, General Educational Diploma, is a high school diploma or equivalent, and is the first step to a better paying job, higher education, and more opportunities! Lighthouse Ministries International believes that the students seeking to better their lives through a relationship with God must also improve their lives academically.

The GED Test can help the student move to the next level—college, technical training, or a better job. For most employers, colleges, universities, and branches of the military, passing the GED Test prove that a person is ready to meet the challenge. If the student has children or grandchildren, attaining the GED may be a source of encouragement for them to pursue their education.

We believe that if these men and women begin the journey to seek a high school education, they will realize that graduation is not an impossible dream, but a realistic goal!

The GED instructor works hard to assist the students with individual needs. Classes are provided that tailor instruction to what students need to know, not to just pass the test, but to be successful in daily living.

The GED credential is based on five tests: reading, writing, social studies, science, and mathematics. They also measure communication, information-processing, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills and are a nationally recognized measure of high school knowledge and skills.

Since 1996, there have been twenty-four (24) graduates who received their State of Florida, Department of Education GED certificates. We believe that each of the Lighthouse Ministries International Faith Home students, who desire to prepare for their GED, are geared up and ready to achieve!

LIGHTHOUSE MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM OF

FAITH THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY & CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

The decisions Lighthouse Ministries International Faith Home students make and the opportunities they consider throughout the rest of their lives will be influenced by the education they choose. Christian higher education challenges and fosters a connection of faith and learning. After having developed an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, many students may determine they desire to obtain more knowledge for the calling God has placed on their lives. Every student will not desire to continue with their education, but for the ones who do, a great opportunity lies at the door of graduation. The Lighthouse Ministries International Christian College is available to the community as well as students of the Faith Home. There are opportunities to Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees through this accredited Christian College.

MONTHLY SUPPORT

Sow & Reap Your Harvest…. Your Loved Ones life

The Lighthouse International Ministries & Faith Home has been in existence for over 57 years. We have seen men and women dropped off by their families to be changed, fed, clothed, cared for and love, without taking an active role in supporting them. In the past, there have been very few that have chosen to support their loved one financially. Secular rehabilitation social services require $5,000-$20,000 or more per month for the same service. This ministry requires that families give $400 per month in support of their loved one. We understand that all may not have that amount, but we ask that you seek God as to what to give. As He places it on your heart, we ask that you consistently give on a monthly basis.
