Dear Friends, At Christmas Eve Mass we hear the Gospel of St. Matthew in which he presents the genealogy of Jesus Christ. There a many names in that genealogy and sometimes we do not pay much attention to those names. But we should because each name we hear in this Gospel has a personality, history and a mission. We hear of them in the Gospel because they had played an important role in the history of salvation. This year was a unique year, and in this article I would like to mention some names too. I would like to appreciate by name those who played a very important role at St. Gerald in the last few months, namely, all the volunteers. Behind each name listed below there is not only a great personality and a mission, but also a kind and loving heart and a spirit for serving others. And I hope we will all say a prayer for them, because they have made it possible for all of us to worship in person or online, during this pandemic. Weddings should be scheduled at least six months in advance. Please contact the Wedding Coordinator.

Baptisms are celebrated every Sunday. Parents are expected to go through a Baptismal preparation session. Classes are held on the third Thursday of the month at 7PM in the Par-ish Meeting Room. Please call the Parish Of-fice to register for the class.

REQUESTS FOR 2021 MASS INTENTIONS

Please fill out this form and return to the parish office. We will try and honor as best we can the dates and times you have requested, and if not possible, will assign the closest available date. Please note that individual mass intentions will be accepted on all days and for all masses with the following exceptions: Holy Thursday (4/01/2021), Good Friday (04/02/2021), Holy Saturday (4/03/2021) and All Souls (11/2/2021). All our deceased loved ones will be remembered in prayer on those days.

In order to provide available open Mass dates for families who have recently lost a loved one, we ask that initially

you limit your requests to eight (8) Mass intentions. After all our families have had an opportunity we will make the Mass Book available to those who wish more intentions.

The suggested donation is $10.00 per mass intention. We ask that you include the donation with your request form.

We will contact you by mail with confirmation of your requests. Thank you for your patience, understanding and sup-port.

We are asking our parishioners to please contact us concerning what Mass you would like to attend on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. You may call our office at 708 422-0234 or sign up on our website. If you are inviting family or friends we certainly want them to be included. We have also added additional Confession Days and times as well. They are as follows: December 19th at 6pm and Dec 21 at 8:30am. Please contact our office to register.

On behalf of the 2020 Christmas Caring Tree Committee, I want to thank St. Gerald’s parishioners for all they have done to meet the needs of those in our community. Special thanks to Maureen Collins and Debbie Janicke for their on-going support and involvement providing for our recipients and to the school manna program. Because we did things a little bit differently we had no idea how this would work this year. I am humbled and moved to share with all of you that we have raised over $7500.00 that will be disbursed equally amongst those that we support. On behalf of the committee, Fr.
