THE FEASTS OF THE LORD

PROPHETIC SYMBOLISM FOR ISRAEL,FOR THE CHURCH, ANDFOR INDIVIDUALS

GOD’S MONTH.

GOD’S MONTH IS FROM NEW MOON TO NEW MOON.

The Jewish calendar is based on three astronomical phenomena:

The rotation of the Earth about its axis; a day. The revolution of the moon about the Earth; a

month. The revolution of the Earth about the sun; a

year. The moon revolves around the Earth in about

29½ days. The Earth revolves around the sun in about

365¼ days, that is, about 12.4 lunar months.

Exodus 12:2-5 (NKJV)2 “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. 4 And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.

LAMB WITHOUT BLEMISH

EXODUS 12:6-7 (NKJV)

6 Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. 7 And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.

EXODUS 12:8-9 (NKJV)

8 Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire—its head with its legs and its entrails. 

EXODUS 12:10 (NKJV)

10 You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. 

EXODUS 12:11 (NKJV)

11 And thus you shall eat it:  with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD’s Passover.

EXODUS 12:12 (NKJV)

12 ‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night,

and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast;

and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment:

I am the LORD.

EXODUS 12:13 (NKJV)

13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

EXODUS 12:14 (NKJV)

14 ‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD  throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.

REVIEWING THE PASSOVER

Celebrated by Jews for thousands of years. Remembering How God redeemed the Jewish nation from slavery in Egypt.

Ordered from God to the Jews while they were still in Egypt.

The first celebration centered around the Passover lamb, which was sacrificed and its blood put over the doorposts in obedience to God’s command. The Lord passed over the houses of the Jews during the last plague released over the Egyptians: The killing of every firstborn.

REVIEWING THE PASSOVER

To a large degree, the Passover lamb has been eliminated from the Passover festival (with the only remnant being the roasted lamb shank bone).

The New Testament says that Jesus is our sacrificial Lamb.

The Passover lamb was to be a "male without defect,” That description fits to Jesus.

When the lamb was roasted and eaten, none of its bones were to be broken.

This fact was also prophesized for the Messiah, whose bones were not to be broken.

REVIEWING THE PASSOVER

During crucifixion Romans would break the leg bones of the person after a few hours in order to hasten their death. The only way a person could breathe when hanging on a cross was to push up with his legs, which was very exhausting. By breaking the legs, death followed soon by asphyxiation. However, in the case of Jesus, they broke the legs of the other two men, but did not break His, since He was already dead.

SYMBOLISM OF PASSOVER

Much is lost to us because we are unaware of the customs of the time.Jesus came into the city of Jerusalem five days before the lamb was killed in the temple as the Passover sacrifice for the sins of the people of Israel. Five days before the lamb was to be sacrificed, it was chosen. Therefore, Jesus entered Jerusalem on lamb selection day as the lamb of God.

SYMBOLISM OF PASSOVER

The people did not understand the significance of this, since they greeted Him with palm branchesThey hailed Him as King, shouting "Hosanna," which means "save us." They were not looking for a spiritual Savior, but a political savior. Palm branches were a symbol of freedom and defiance, since Simon Maccabeus had entered Jerusalem with that symbolism.

SYMBOLISM OF PASSOVER

Jesus was crucified on the day of the Passover celebration and the day that the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed. For 1,200 years, the priest would blow the shophar at 3:00 p.m. - the moment the lamb was sacrificed, and all the people would pause to contemplate the sacrifice for sins on behalf of the people of Israel.At 3:00, when Jesus was being crucified, He said, "It is finished“, at the moment that the Passover lamb was sacrificed and the shophar was blown from the Temple.

SYMBOLISM OF PASSOVER

The sacrifice of the lamb of God was fulfilled at the hour that the symbolic animal sacrifice usually took place. At the same time, the veil of the Temple (a three-inch thick, several story high cloth that demarked the Holy of Holies) tore from top to bottom representing a removal of the separation between God and man. Fifty days later, on the anniversary of the giving of the law (Pentecost), God left the earthly temple to inhabit those who call on the name of Jesus through His Holy Spirit

EXODUS 12:15-16 (NKJV)

15 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.16 On the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat—that only may be prepared by you.

7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.

8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

WAVING THE SHEAF OF FIRSTFRUITS

LEVITICUS 23:9-11 (NKJV)

The Feast of Firstfruits 9 And the LORD spoke to Moses,

saying, 10 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. 11 He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.

FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK

The day after the Sabbath is the first Day of the week.

The first day of the week for us is Sunday.

Our Lord Jesus is the “First Fruits” He was resurrected on the first day of

the week, wich is a Sunday. We celebrate Sunday as the Day of the

Lord.

1 CORINTHIANS 15:20-23 NKJV)

The Last Enemy Destroyed 20 But now Christ is risen from the

dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the first fruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.

PASSOVER.

Feast of freedom and salvation both in the Old and New Testaments.

The Blood of the lamb delivers from Slavery: The Jew from Egypt’s slavery and Christians from sin’s slavery.

In Egypt the blood of the lamb over the lintel and the posts of the house door.

Christians mark their hearts with the blood of Christ

UNLEAVENED BREAD

Leaven or yeast in the bible signifies sin or evil ways.

Eaten 7 days of unleavened bread signifies a holy walk, following the Lord.

Unleavened bread points out to the Body of the Lord

Jesus is the Bread of Life. Born in Bethlehem which means “House

of Bread” Matzah is striped and pierced, pointing

out to Jesus; by His stripes we were healed, He was pierced by the Roman soldier.

FIRST FRUITS

Thanksgiving to god for the harvest.

First day after Sabbath Week of Passover Feast

Resurrection of the Lord, Resurrection of the church

First Day of the week The Lord resurrected.
