The Friends’ SchoolFrances Parsons Bursary 2021This is a bursary available for a student from Years 7 to 12 in 2021 from a rural area.

The Frances Parsons Bursary was created following the receipt of a bequest from Frances Parson’s estate in 2015. Frances had a passion for the education of women, particularly from rural areas, although the bursary is available to all rural students.

Term: up to six years, depending on enrolment yearEntry Level: a new or current Boarding student entering in Years 7 - 12 in 2021 from a rural area. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen. Value: up to 50% of Boarding fees. Friends’ School bursaries are based on financial need and assistance varies depending on the individual family circumstances.Applications Open: 1 May 2020Applications Close: 28 June 2020

About Boarding at Friends’

The Friends’ School is a coeducational day and boarding school, located in the heart of Hobart, Tasmania. The Friends’ School offers accommodation for students at our on-campus residence, Walker House, for local and international students from Years 7 to 12. We offer five-day and seven-day boarding.

We have separate boys and girls areas, with communal areas for meals and study. Students also have access to the School’s recreational facilities such as Friends Health & Fitness, which includes a heated swimming pool and fully equipped gymnasium.

At Walker House, our focus is on promoting a strong academic culture, celebrating difference and providing consistent pastoral care and structure via daily routines. We seek to provide a caring ‘home away from home’ with the feel of a large family. We strive for our students to learn how to live, work and play together, sharing experiences with people from many different countries and cultural backgrounds.
