2. Treateveryoneinadialogueasanequal:leaverole,statusandstereotypesatthedoor.

3. Listenwithempathytotheviewsofothers4. Beopenandlistentoothersevenwhenyoudisagree,and

suspendjudgment(trynottorushtojudgment).5. Searchforassumptions(especiallyyourown).6. Lookforcommonground.7. Allpointsofviewdeserverespectandallwillberecorded

report out your group’s conclusions

� Take 15 minutes to discuss what you found most important or surprising and note key takeaways

� Take 15 minutes to discuss what you thought was most relevant for Alaska

� Take the remaining ten minutes to identify no more than 2-3 questions to ask the panelists that will help us think about how to move Alaska towards a 21st

century education

� Pick a moderator and a reporter (they can be the same or new)

� As a group, discuss and identify 5-6 characteristics we want to see in all Alaska high school graduates� Consider this question from different vantage points--

college, business, parents, students� If you have time, identify how these qualities are

different than what we currently expect

� Develop 2-3 “big ideas” that will help move Alaska forward� Describe them in a sentence or two; name the objective

and who will need to be involved

� Pick one of your “big ideas” and take it further� Identify the main obstacles to achieving the idea and

how best to overcome them

� Identify action steps necessary over the next 2 years on a timeline

� If you have time, name your idea
