The GENESIS range of Wireless Passive Infra RedDetectors and accessories have been designed tomeet the latest and most demanding requirementsof the CCTV market.

These detectors provide the versatility of wireless whilst meeting

and surpassing the requirements of the BS8418 standard.Radio transmission is secure by way of encrypted rolling codes

with regular call ins to inform the system that each PIR is stilloperational. Up to 64 PIR’s can be used on each system and may

be a mixture of wired and wireless versions.

In addition, there are 32 site codes to choose from which enablemany systems to work independently in the same vicinity.

Transmission range is exceptional at over 1km line of sight andseveral kilometres when used with repeaters. Various Control

Interfaces provide a means of connecting the alarms to DVR’sand alarm systems. Some popular makes of DVR have Plug &

Play connection for even easier installation. Too see a full list ofthe latest products in the Genesis range, please visit our web site.

LGWP/1520/4004/12HC. Wireless PIR detectors.

The LGWP range of Wireless Passive Infra RedDetectors (PIR) allow Fast, flexible installations withlow maintenance and costs. These new PIR detectors have a battery life of around twoyears which is achieved by a special regulator that maintainsoptimum performance while the batteries are running down.

The PIR also contains a shock sensor for detecting physicalattack as well as a sensor for anti-cloaking. A thermal sensoradjusts the parameters of the PIR in extremes of heat and coldto maintain optimum performance. Periodic polingtransmissions verify that the detector is operational whilst alsosending information such as battery condition, lens type, pulsecount settings and software version number.

There are currently three popular lens patterns to choose from:

• The standard 15 metre x 90º version (LGWP1520)provides coverage of 15 metres out by 20 metres

across.

• The 40 metre 1º version (LGWP4004) providesa narrow beam that expands out to 4.5 metreswide at 40 metres range. This is ideal forperimeter coverage.

• The horizontal curtain type (LGWP12HC) canbe mounted up to 12 metres high and made tolook straight down, providing curtain coverageacross doors, windows and shutters. It may alsobe used to look straight ahead where creep zones

are not required.

The detachable sun shield shown here is optional.

The Genesis Masthead is weather proof to IP66 and forms the heart of a GenesisWireless system. Its purpose is to receive alarm data from the PIR’s and pass it toa control unit via an RS232 link. A Masthead can transmit data as well as receive it, which means it will transmit back to a WalkTest Instrument to show all received information as well as the signal strength at the masthead. In this way the installer knows that the detector is working correctly and also that it is beingreceived by the system. In addition, it can perform as a repeater for systems that require greatertransmission operating distances. Up to seven repeaters can be used in any one system toprovide transmission range of several kilometres.

Finally, the Masthead can be programmed with individual names for each unit number which aretransmitted to the walk test instrument or pager to aid location of the detector.

The Genesis Walk Test Instrument is a Transceiver that has the ability to receivesignals directly from the PIR detectors or via the Masthead. It can also transmit tosimulate a PIR in order to check proposed PIR positions before installation begins. An LCD shows PIR information such as ID number, Lens type, Pulse count setting, signalstrength and battery condition. In addition, the display can also show an alpha numeric namefor each PIR which makes identification easier.

The LGDM16 control Interface unit provides a direct Plug & Play interface to aDedicated Micros DS2 DVR without the need for RAM modules. A Masthead transceiver receives the data from the PIR detectors and passes it to the LGDM16control unit in the form of RS232 text messages. The LGDM16 then converts the data into theDedicated Micros protocol on RS485 to provide 16 alarm and 16 tamper outputs.Between one and four LGDM16 interface units can be connected with a single masthead receiverto provide up to 64 alarm and 64 tamper commands that can be interfaced to a DS2. On the front panel, a display shows information on alarms, faults and tampers which are held ina log. The PIR’s call in periodically and are monitored individually. If they fail to call in, a tamperwill occur. An additional RS232 text output provides alarm and other information that can beinserted on a video picture for remote viewing.

The Genesis Masthead Relay Unit is weather proof to IP66 and can be fitted externallywith a camera and be connected directly into the alarm pre-sets.This unit provides either 4 alarm outputs with corresponding tamper outputs or eight alarm outputswithout tampers. DIL switches set the different modes as well as the unit code groups. Expansionunits are available to increase the number of alarm outputs. There is no limit to the number ofLGMRU4x4 units that can be used on any one system. This unit can transmit information as wellas receive it, which means it will transmit back to a Walk Test Instrument to show all receivedinformation as well as the signal strength at the masthead. In this way the installer knows that thedetector is working correctly and also that it is being received by the system. In addition, it canperform as a repeater for systems that require greater transmission operating distances.

The LGRM8 & LGRM8ELR relay modules can be fitted to an LGRU16 or LGRU16ELRto provide an extra 8 alarm and 8 tamper contacts. The LGRM8 relays provide eight Normally Closed tamper contacts and eight Change Over alarmcontacts. This module is supplied with a one metre ribbon cable which can be easily strippedback for individual connection to alarm inputs. The LGRM8ELR version has screw terminalsand End Of Line Resistors which can be plugged in as modules. It is possible to connect up tofour LGRU16's together to provide the maximum of sixty four alarm and 64 tamper outputsfrom a system.

The LGBX64 control interface provides an RS232 Plug & Play connection to aBaxall Vivid DVR.A Masthead transceiver receives the data from the PIR detectors and passes it to the LGBX64control unit in the form of RS232 text messages. This unit can learn up to the maximum of 64PIR’s or transmitters and will monitor each one individually to check battery voltages andensure that they call in regularily.

Up to 64 alarms and 64 tampers can be passed directly to a Baxall Vivid DVR simply byconnecting a Plug and Play serial cable, therefore saving a considerable amount of time. Othertypes of DVR that operate on Key Words may also be used. On the front panel, a display showsinformation on alarms, faults and tampers which are held in the log. The PIR’s call inperiodically and are monitored individually. If they fail to call in, a tamper will occur.

The LGRU16 & LGRU16ELR control interface relay units provide physical alarm andtamper outputs for DVR and Alarm systems The LGRU16 is supplied with one LGRM8 relay module which provides 8 alarm and 8 tamperrelay contacts that can be interfaced to virtually any alarm system. A further LGRM8 module canbe added to increase it to 16 alarm and 16 tamper outputs. Between one and four LGRU16 relayunits can be connected with a single masthead receiver to provide the maximum of 64 alarm and64 tamper contacts. The LGRU16ELR version has screw terminals and End Of Line Resistorsbuilt in. The resistor values are plug in as modules and may be changed accordingly. On thefront panel, a display shows information on alarms, faults and tampers which are held in the log.

The PIR’s call in periodically and are monitored individually. If they fail to call in, a tamper willoccur. An additional RS232 text output provides alarm and other information that can beinserted on a video picture for remote viewing.

Genesis Wireless PIR System WORKING DIAGRAM

How the system works. When a PIR detects a person moving within its field of view, it willtransmit a coded message to a receiver within range that is set to

respond to the same code. Two types of receiver are shown above. The LGMRU4x4 has relay outputs for direct connection to camera

pre-sets. One of these receivers will be fitted next to each cameraand can provide up to 8 alarms or 4 alarms with 4 tampers.

The LGMT434 receives the messages from the PIR’s and passesthem to a control interface unit via a four core cable. The cable can

be up to 100 ft long. Three different types of control unit are shownin the example and each are designed to interface

with popular DVR’s and alarm systems.
