The Golden Eagle Volume 4 “Summer to Inspire” Week 8 Thanks for an Inspirational Summer! It’s hard to believe we’ve completed another summer! It seems like only yesterday when the buses were rolling in for the first day of camp. Some campers were a bit unsure on the first day but we knew they would soon be making new friends, learning new skills, trying new challenges and building self-esteem. In short, they would have a inspirational summer at ELDC! We’ve been working in camping a long time (this was Barry’s 27th year as a Camp Director), yet we still marvel at the changes we see during the summer. People ask us all the time if we still love camp after all these years. The answer is a resounding YES! We love it all! From winter planning meetings, to spring camp spruce up, from Crazy Hair Day to the Camp Shows, Tribal Competitions, Carnival and more! Most of all, we love our campers and staff. It’s the changes we see that truly amaze us. It’s not just the physical changes of a lost tooth or a new haircut, but the emotional changes as well. A camper who came off the bus timidly during the first week now flies off the bus when they see the face of their counselor or new friends. A Kiddie Kingdom camper who was fearful of the water at the beginning of summer now proudly kicks their way across the pool. We’ve also enjoyed watching our staff, both new and returning, join together this season to help children grow. We see a professionalism in a Division Leader who takes the time to make a child feel comfortable and in the broad smile of a counselor or specialist proudly watching their camper tackle a new challenge. We are also so proud of our CITs and campers for raising over $3000 from the CIT Parents Night out and Change for Change to help a camp family in need. We have a confession to make; we’re sorry when the summer ends because we miss all of you during the year! So please visit us on our website and e-mail us to let us know what’s happening in your lives. Send us pictures during the school year in your ELDC clothes and we’ll post it on our Facebook page and don’t forget to tag us on Instagram and Twitter @eagleslandingdaycamp. The winter can be mighty lonely without you and we look forward to the memories we still have to make. We wish each and every one of our staff and campers a wonderful year and can’t wait to see you in 2017! Don’t forget to join us for our September Smash on September 18 from 11-3. Thanks for an Inspirational

Summer!

It’s hard to believe we’ve completed another summer! It seems like only yesterday when the buses were rolling in for the fi rst day of camp. Some campers were a bit unsure on the fi rst day but we knew they would soon be making new friends, learning new skills, trying new challenges and building self-esteem. In short, they would have a inspirational summer at ELDC! We’ve been working in camping a long time (this was Barry’s 27th year as a Camp Director), yet we still marvel at the changes we see during the summer. From winter planning meetings, to spring camp spruce up, from Crazy Hair Day to the Camp Shows, Tribal Competitions, Carnival and more! Most of all, we love our campers and staff . It’s the changes we see that truly amaze us. It’s not just the physical changes of a lost tooth or a new haircut, but the emotional changes as well. A camper who came off the bus timidly during the fi rst week now fl ies off the bus when they see the face of their counselor or new friends. A Kiddie Kingdom camper who was fearful of the water at the beginning of summer now proudly kicks their way across the pool. We’ve also enjoyed watching our staff , both new and returning, join together this season to help children grow. Happiness doesn't result from what we get but

what we give!

B5B’s Bittersweet Week 8 As always, week 8 of camp was not only an exciting one, but a sad one as well, as the camp season has once again come to an end. Although those of us in group B5B had to say our goodbyes to one another, we had a great time this week during days like the Drama Show and Tribal Day. 5th & 6th GradesWrapping Up Another Amazing Summer

The summer of 2016 was a blast for our fi fth and sixth graders. The boys had a great time on their second overnight of the summer. It was fun playing Tennis Baseball and having the Pool to ourselves. Meanwhile, the girls played Dance Dance Revolution and Kickball for their overnight. Everyone had a great night staying up late here at camp. Another highlight for the division was the Carnival during week 7. Campers split their time between running their stands and checking out the games for themselves. This week was the ELDC Drama Show. Our campers worked hard and put on a terrifi c performance in High School Musical, Jr. The fi fth graders loved the special days here at ELDC. Lost in Space Day gave us the opportunity to build our own model rockets and play diff erent Star Wars themed games. Medieval Day was also a hit. Some campers even got into the spirit by dressing up as knights and princesses. The sixth graders went on some amazing trips. Some campers even went on the 3 day trip to Hershey Park! It was a great opportunity to go on a road trip with our friends from camp. The Beast speedboat was also a hit. The view of the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty was incredible. We also had great weather for the beach at Sandy Hook and an awesome time playing Laser Tag at Branchburg Sports. The Summer Bash was a great way to cap off an amazing summer. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year. Good luck in school! ~Todd & Robyn, 5/6 Division Leaders

GKC Princesses The GKC princesses have had a fabulous sum-mer so far and this week was no exception. Vianca Ponce made a beautiful bracelet that said “GKC” in Art Too. We hope she wears it all year round! Emma Marx and Sydney Rajan made yummy double ice cream scoops in Arts & Crafts, if they weren’t made of paper we would’ve eaten them all up! Kallie O’Donnell and Anika Caldis sang about their friend Herman the worm in Music, as well as played with puppets! A great ending to an Inspirational summer

As we have come to the end of another amazing summer, the CIT’s have really taken on the responsibility of being counselors. Calvin Lovelace and Jeremy Kenny have gone almost unaff ected by the hot days as they were able to continue assisting the sports staff through the heat. Kyle Pepitone, Elliot Rosen and Brandon Bekerman handled the heat by being ready to get wet and cool off whenever their campers needed a break from the sun. Ryan Ostrowski and Jess Schwab were fortunate enough to enjoy the air conditioning in Arts & Crafts but they were still hard at work helping the specialists prepare for the end of camp. Jada Mayo and Danielle Sawyer both continued their hard work by being an extra pairs of watchful eyes to help keep the younger campers well-behaved. Olivia Alexander and Kaley Fitzpatrick continued to motivate campers in their groups during activities and on hot days. Jake Stein’s basketball shooting took a small decline in the middle of the summer but his hard work paid off as he was able to hit his deep three pointers by this fi nal week. The Frog Pool is a favorite for Noah Marlowe and Emily Alter as they made sure they were braving the two foot pool in order to ensure their campers were always safe. Zach Williams and Chris Maniaci, on the other hand, enjoyed another way to cool off by running through the Spray Park with their campers. Reina Perez and Emma Chace have shown tremendous responsibility as they helped to maintain their group’s punctuality even during this last week of special schedules. Jess Khavich, Gaby Knafelman and Jenna Krause all enjoyed cheering on their campers and teammates as Tribes wrapped up for the summer. Matt Buchinski and Ethan Rosen were both able to enjoy some last week of Poly-Pong and plan on practicing their skills after the end of camp. Matt Heyman is wrapping it up in Tennis and is enjoying the last few days of instruction. All in all, the counselors in training have learned a lot this summer while still having loads of fun during their last year as campers. ~Kevin & Nikki, LIT/CIT Counselors
