Page 2: The “Grudge” Game

Write your name on the board and put 4 x’s underneath it.(You also need your “Solving for x” Foldable)

Example:

Mrs. MorganX X X X

Rules• I will show an expression to be simplified or an equation to

be solved.• Show your work and answer on your whiteboard and wait

to show your answer until I say it is time.• If you have the correct solution (with work) on your

whiteboard, then you get to go to the board and erase an X off of someone’s name.

• If you run out of X’s, you can no longer win but you become a zombie and can get other people back by erasing their X’s.

• The winner is the person with the last X remaining.

READY?Let’s play!

Page 5: The “Grudge” Game

Simplify the expression.

3(4x + 2) + 5x

12x + 6 + 5x

17x + 6

Page 6: The “Grudge” Game

Simplify the expression.

4(4x + 3) + 5(2x – 1)

16x + 12 + 10x – 5

26x + 7

Page 7: The “Grudge” Game

Simplify the expression.

-2(x – 4) – 3(2x + 1)

-2x + 8 – 6x – 3

-8x + 5

Page 8: The “Grudge” Game

Solve the equation.

7x + 2 = -54- 2 - 2

7x = -567 7

x = -8

Page 9: The “Grudge” Game

Solve the equation.

108 = -5x – 7+ 7+ 7

115 = -5x-5-5

-23= x

Page 10: The “Grudge” Game

Solve the equation.

8m – 2 = -9 + 7m- 7m- 7m

1m - 2 = - 9+ 2 + 2

1m = - 7

Page 11: The “Grudge” Game

Solve the equation.

5n + 34 = -2(1 – 7n)

5n + 34 = -2 + 14n

- 5n - 5n34 = -2 + 9n

+ 2+ 2

36 = 9n99

4 = n

Page 12: The “Grudge” Game

Solve the equation.

-(1 + 7j) – 6(-7 – j) = 36

-1 – 7j + 42 + 6j = 36

-1j + 41= 36- 41 - 41

-1j = -5

-1 -1j = 5

Page 13: The “Grudge” Game

Simplify the expression.

-3(4x + 3) + 4(6x + 1)

12x – 5

Page 14: The “Grudge” Game

A triangle sides of 2x, 3(2x – 1), and –x + 5. Find the expression for the perimeter of the triangle.

2x

6x – 3

-x + 5

7x + 2

Page 15: The “Grudge” Game

Solve the equation.

14 = -(y – 8)

y = -6

Page 16: The “Grudge” Game

Solve the equation.

-18 – 6z = 6(1 + 3z)

z = -1
