March Highlights:

WGA had a busy month in March. The Open-

ing Breakfast was a great success as evidenced

by the attached photographs. There was rain

on the outside and lots of green on the inside!

Coming Events:

Please join the Hidden Creek Country Club’s

Women’s Golf Association on Saturday, April

11th for the Azalea Classic. It will be a 9:00

*2015 Junior PGA League

This is a great opportunity for a child to enter the

competitive side of golf. Play is from the forward tees

and the format is 2-person scramble match play. All

participants cannot turn fourteen years old before

September 1, 2015. Our team last year consisted of 15

players, aged 8 to 13, from various levels of beginner

golfers. This year the first 16 players to sign up will

be on the team. If we are able to sign up 24 players,

we will form two teams (more golf for everyone). The

cost per player is $275. This will include 4 matches, 2

scrimmages, 6 practices, uniform and bag tag.

Practices will be held on Wednesday evenings starting

at 5:30pm for two hours. The 9 hole matches and

scrimmages (3-3hole legs) will most likely be on

Saturday afternoons at approximately 4:00pm. We

will hold these at Hidden Creek Country Club and

other local courses. The exact dates are still to be

determined. Last year we started in late May. I

anticipate a little earlier start this year. Additionally,

we will need a couple adult volunteers to be our

assistant coaches.

Sign-ups available thru [email protected]

or 703-505-3240.

*2015 Summer Golf Camps

$220 for Hidden Creek Members and

$250 for Non-members

Golf Camp at Hidden Creek will be intimate and

personalized. Each session is limited to 16 children.

We will have a student-coach ratio of 4 to 1. Camps

will emphasize enjoyment. The camps will also coach

golf fundaments, rules, and etiquette. The camps also

include significant course time.

Sign-ups will be available through mcgrathgolf.com or

by contacting [email protected] or

703-505-3240.

Everyone Should Have A Little Spring In Their

Step!

Now this is more like it! April is very much hit and

miss with the weather but we have had enough hits to

get the golf course going! We have seen lots of action

on the course and it is getting greener every day. We

have had the opportunity to get the entire course

mowed and fertilized and we are on a normal mainte-

nance schedule. Greens are being mowed regularly

and as of Thursday, the speed of the greens was 10 ½.

Not too bad for coming out of the winter. Even Steve

Potts seems to like the speed.

Staff Update Part I:

Please welcome Michael Otstot to the Hidden Creek

Team. Michael comes to us from Lakewood Country

Club in Rockville, MD. Michael also served his in-

ternship at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethle-

hem, PA. Michael has jumped right in and is getting

comfortable quickly.

Staff Update Part II:

While Flo can never be replaced, we do have the next

best thing. Meg has started working at the Club after

agreeing to a signing bonus of organic dog treats and

a custom crate. Meg has also jumped right in and she

is having a great time. She is very friendly so feel free

to introduce yourself.

It is much nicer to deliver this type of message in-

stead of the woe is me of the last few months. Hope

to see you at the Club!

Sincerely,

Stephen Lutz

Happy Spring!

Please give a warm welcome to Spring! After the

longest, coldest winter that I can remember in the 30

years spent in the golf business, 50 degrees might as

well be hot! It is now time to move on from the dol-

drums of winter and head excitedly into Spring.

Spring got off to a great start with Hidden Madness

and it was lots of fun seeing all of the activity in the

Tavern. (Little reminder about the Tavern though,

please remember it is adults only.) Alex Kormanec

took home the Hidden Madness title this year.

We also enjoyed a mid-week social that was also

well attended. Look for announcements about future

socials and other Member Events. Next on the calen-

dar is the Meet the Tennis Director and tennis season

kickoff. This will be held on Saturday April 11th. I

hope to see plenty of golfers as well. New Tennis

Director, John Kratzke will be offering complimen-

tary programming that just might help with your golf

game. Give it a try!

Golf Professional Search Update:

The search for our new Head Golf Professional is

well underway. We have received interest from sev-

eral candidates and are now in the interview process.

We will continue to keep Membership informed as

we move forward in the process.

Hope to see you soon at the Club!

Sincerely,

Stephen Lutz
