Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph December 27, 2020

The year 2020 has been a difficult one, to say the least! We have had to adjust our lives in so many ways. If it wasn't for our faith, I am not sure where we would be. Our God is good--All the time even in the difficulties we have had to experience. For that very reason we need to come together and give thanks to the Lord for his presence during this past year and ask for his continued blessings into the next year. Our New Year's Mass schedule is as follows: We will gather for the Mass on Thursday, December 31st at 6:00 p.m. at the altar of the Shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Immediately following the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for Adoration until 8:00 p.m. when we will receive the Lord's blessing to end the year and begin the new one. On January 1st at 9:00 a.m. we will celebrate the Mass in the body of the Main Church. (There will not be the regularly scheduled 12:05 Mass on that day.) Everyone is required to wear masks and keep a protective distance between those outside the family. Let us pray that this vaccine that many have already received brings us back to where we were before the Corona Virus hit us.

¡El año 2020 ha sido difícil, por decir lo menos! Hemos tenido que ajustar nuestras vidas de muchas maneras. Si no fuera por nuestra fe, no estoy seguro de dónde estaríamos. Nuestro Dios es bueno: todo el tiempo, incluso en las dificultades que hemos tenido que experimentar. Por esa misma razón, debemos unirnos y dar gracias al Señor por su presencia durante este año pasado y pedirle sus bendiciones continuas durante el próximo año. Nuestro horario de Misa de Año Nuevo es el siguiente: Nos reuniremos para la Misa el jueves 31 de diciembre a las 6:00 de la tarde en el altar del Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Inmediatamente después del Santísimo Sacramento estará expuesto para la Adoración hasta las 8:00 de la noche cuándo recibiremos la bendición del Señor para terminar el año y comenzar el nuevo. El 1o de enero a las 9:00 de la mañana celebraremos la Misa en la Iglesia. (No habrá la Misa de las 12:05 programada regularmente ese día). Todos deben usar máscaras y mantener una distancia protectora entre los que no pertenecen a la familia. Oremos para que esta vacuna que muchos ya han recibido nos devuelva a donde estábamos antes de que nos golpeara el Virus Corona.

El Diacono Nacho y Olga Villa les quieren dar las gracias a todas aquellas lindas personas que nos ayudaron mucho, tanto en la cocina, como sus donaciones, en la venta de Menudo y Caldo de Res el fin de semana del 12 y 13 de diciembre. Tuvimos una bendición muy grande, se recaudó un total de $3,128.00, y todo para la iglesia. Les agradecemos a la comunidad por apoyarnos en este proyecto, bendiciones se les quiere mucho.

Recently we discovered a theft of Church property, specifically the catalytic converter to our parish bus! We are unaware of when it happened because we are not usually using the bus on a daily basis. The thieves cut part of the muffler in order to take the converter. We also were informed that the same theft of the catalytic converter took place at Saint Stephen's Church across town. If anyone has any information that could help us solve this case, we would appreciate any assistance. On a side note, it seems as some people have lost total respect for God and the Church. Theft is a crime and a sin, but those thieves should realize they have stolen from God Himself. Let us pray for them and their conversion of heart.

Recientemente descubrimos un robo de propiedad de la Iglesia, ¡específicamente el convertidor catalítico de nuestro autobús parroquial! No sabemos cuándo sucedió porque en general no usamos el autobús a diario. Los ladrones cortaron parte del silenciador para llevarse el convertidor. También se nos informó que el mismo robo del convertidor catalítico tuvo lugar en la iglesia de San Esteban al otro lado de la ciudad. Si alguien tiene alguna información que pueda ayudarnos a resolver este caso, agradeceríamos cualquier ayuda. En una nota al margen, parece que algunas personas han perdido el respeto total por Dios y la Iglesia. El robo es un crimen y un pecado, pero esos ladrones deben darse cuenta de que le han robado a Dios mismo. Oremos por ellos y su conversión de corazón.

As we begin the New Year let us not forget that next week is the first Sunday of the month when our parish gathers non-perishable food items to be donated to those in need. This ministry has grown throughout the years and has assisted many families. We were able to help over 140 families in 2020, plus 36 families

received a Thanksgiving Basket and over 25 families received a Christmas Basket. It is truly an act of love and mercy for those in the Body of Christ who are in need. We should always remember that as we serve one of the least of our brothers and sisters we serve Christ Himself.

Al comenzar el Año Nuevo, no olvidemos que el próximo es el primer domingo del mes cuando nuestra parroquia colecta alimentos no perecederos para donarlos a los necesitados. Este ministerio ha crecido a lo largo de los años y ha ayudado a muchas familias. Pudimos ayudar a más de 140 familias en 2020, 36 familias recibieron una Canasta de Acción de Gracias y más de 25 familias recibieron una Canasta de Navidad. Es verdaderamente un acto de amor y misericordia para aquellos en el Cuerpo de Cristo que están en necesidad. Siempre debemos recordar que cuando servimos a uno de nuestros hermanos y hermanas más pequeños, servimos a Cristo mismo.

Not by making our lives always pleasant, but by showing us where others need us most and leading us to help God, make our year a happy one!

Let us pray, Mary, mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now, amen. This simple but powerful prayer from St. Mother Teresa has become one that I turn to often, in times of illness, sadness, and when I am overwhelmed with life. The road that led me to this prayer hasn’t been an easy one, but one filled with so many beautiful moments. I can recall vividly the day that the image we have in the church arrived, after days of waiting, I caught a glimpse of her in the sacristy, and the love I was filled with moved me to tears and left me speechless. Just thinking of our Blessed Mother, trying to find the words to express how much love she has for us brings me to tears, and fills me with so much peace and hope. The hope that we need in this trying time of our lives. When my conversion first began, praying the rosary was not on my daily prayer list, I would pray it occasionally, and during May and October, and also during the Posadas. I would tell myself that I would just keep it going, but I was never convinced that I could or would do it. I would somehow run out of day, I struggled with this for some time until one day I made a commitment to not try to pray the rosary at the end of the day, or if I had time, but to do it before I even left my home for the day. This decision impacted my life so much that at the end of last year, I decided to read the 33 Days to Morning Glory, a Do-it-Yourself Retreat in Preparation for Marian Consecration. On February 11, 2020, I entrusted my whole self to the Immaculate Heart of our Blessed Mother, that I may love Jesus and the members of His Body with her perfect love, so that all that I do, with her guidance, I can bring the greatest possible glory to God. It is not always an easy road, but I also count on her in the moments when I fall, that she will lead me back to her son Jesus. If you feel Mother Mary’s call in your heart, answer she will only take you closer to her Son. Through Mary to Jesus.

Oremos, María, madre de Jesús, por favor sé mi madre ahora, amén. Esta simple pero poderosa oración de Santa Madre Teresa se ha convertido en una a la que recurro a menudo, en tiempos de enfermedad, tristeza y cuando estoy abrumado por la vida. El camino que me llevó a esta oración no ha sido fácil, pero está lleno de tantos momentos hermosos. Puedo recordar vívidamente el día en que llegó la imagen que tenemos en la iglesia, después de días de espera, la vislumbré en la sacristía, y el amor que me llenó me conmovió hasta las lágrimas y me dejó sin palabras. Solo pensar en nuestra Santísima Madre, tratar de encontrar las palabras para expresar cuánto amor nos tiene me hace llorar y me llena de tanta paz y esperanza. La esperanza que necesitamos en este momento difícil de nuestras vidas. Cuando comenzó mi conversión, rezar el rosario no estaba en mi lista de oración diaria, lo rezaba de vez en cuando, durante mayo y octubre, y también durante las Posadas. Me decía a mí mismo que seguiría así, pero nunca estuve convencido de que pudiera hacerlo o lo haría. De alguna manera se me acababa el día, luché con esto durante algún tiempo hasta que un día me comprometí a no intentar rezar el rosario al final del día, o si tenía tiempo, sino a hacerlo incluso antes de irme de mi casa para el día. Esta decisión afectó tanto mi vida que a fines del año pasado, decidí leer 33 días para la gloria de la mañana, un retiro de bricolaje en preparación para la consagración mariana. El 11 de febrero de 2020, entregué todo mi ser al Inmaculado Corazón de nuestra Santísima Madre, para que pueda amar a Jesús y a los miembros de Su Cuerpo con su perfecto amor, para que todo lo que haga, con su guía, pueda aportar la mayor gloria posible a Dios. No siempre es un camino fácil, pero también cuento con ella en los momentos en que me caigo, que me lleve de regreso a su hijo Jesús. Si sientes el llamado de la Madre María en tu corazón, responde ella solo te llevará más cerca a su Hijo. A través de María a Jesús.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Our Religious Education (CCD) office will be closed until Monday, January 4, 2021. Our Christmas and New Year 2021 break, will continue through this coming week and we will return to online classes on Monday, January 4th. We have some students that are still having problems logging on, please call your teacher and get homework to get those absences excused, remember you are allowed 4 absences but with make-up work. Students in 1st & 2nd year First Communion and Confirmation will receive a letter in the mail within 2 weeks, with a list of requirements still needed in order to be able to receive their sacraments. Make-up work can be turned in by email, bring to my office beginning, Monday, January 4th, or you can take it to the parish office and leave it to my attention. Look for more REC news in next week's bulletin!!! We pray you have a safe and Merry Christmas! Have PEACE in your family, and know JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!
