Liturgical Procession Te DeumPeter J. Latona (b.1968)
To you all angels, all the powers of heaven, Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise: Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory. R/
The glorious company of apostles praise you. The noble fellowship of prophets praise you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise you. R/
Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you: Father, of majesty unbounded,
your true and only Son, worthy of all worship, and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide. R/
You, Christ, are the king of glory, the eternal Son of the Father.
When you became man to set us free you did not shun the Virgin’s womb. You overcame the sting of death,
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are seated at God’s right hand in glory.
We believe that you will come and be our judge. R/
Come then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting. R/

LITURGY OF THE WORD
First Reading Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14
A reading from the Book of the Prophet Daniel
As I watched: Thrones were set up and the Ancient Onetook his throne. His clothing was bright as snow, and thehair on his head as white as wool; his throne was flamesof fire, with wheels of burning fire. A surging stream offire flowed out from where he sat; thousands uponthousands were ministering to him, and myriads uponmyriads attended him. The court was convened and thebooks were opened.
As the visions during the night continued, I saw: One likea Son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; when hereached the Ancient One and was presented before him,the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, andkingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him.His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not betaken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed.
The word of the Lord.R/ Thanks be to God.
10
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 97:1-2, 5-6, 9Richard Proulx (1937-2010)
The LORD is king; let the earth rejoice;let the many islands be glad.
Clouds and darkness are round about him, justice and judgment are the foundationof his throne. R/
The mountains melt like wax before the LORD,before the LORD of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his justice, and all peoples see his glory. R/
Because you, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth, exalted far above all gods. R/

Second Reading 2 Peter 1:16-19
A reading from the second Letter of Saint Peter
Beloved: We did not follow cleverly devised myths whenwe made known to you the power and coming of ourLord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of hismajesty. For he received honor and glory from God theFather when that unique declaration came to him fromthe majestic glory, “This is my Son, my beloved, withwhom I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voicecome from heaven while we were with him on the holymountain. Moreover, we possess the prophetic messagethat is altogether reliable. You will do well to beattentive to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, untilday dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
The word of the Lord.R/ Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation A Major Chant
Matthew 17:5c
This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;listen to him. R/

Gospel Luke 9:28b-36
V/ The Lord be with you.R/ And with your spirit.
@ A reading from the holy Gospel according to LukeR/ Glory to you, O Lord.
Jesus took Peter, John, and James and went up amountain to pray. While he was praying his face changedin appearance and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men were conversing with him, Mosesand Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodusthat he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem. Peter andhis companions had been overcome by sleep, butbecoming fully awake, they saw his glory and the twomen standing with him. As they were about to part fromhim, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we arehere; let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” But he did not know what he wassaying. While he was still speaking, a cloud came andcast a shadow over them, and they became frightenedwhen they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud camea voice that said, “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. Theyfell silent and did not at that time tell anyone what theyhad seen.
The Gospel of the Lord.R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Guidelines for the Reception of Communion For Catholics: As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebrationof the Eucharist when we receive Holy Communion. We areencouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. Inorder to be properly disposed to receive Communion, participantsshould not be conscious of grave sin and normally should havefasted for one hour. A person who is conscious of grave sin is not toreceive the Body and Blood of the Lord without prior sacramentalconfession except for a grave reason where there is no opportunityfor confession. In this case, the person is to be mindful of theobligation to make an act of perfect contrition, including theintention of confessing as soon as possible (canon 916). A frequentreception of the Sacrament of Penance is encouraged for all.
For our fellow Christians: We welcome our fellow Christians tothis celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. We praythat our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in thisEucharist will draw us closer to one another and begin to dispel thesad divisions which separate us. We pray that these will lessen andfinally disappear, in keeping with Christ’s prayer for us “that theymay all be one” (Jn 17:21).
Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is asign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion.Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circumstances by otherChristians requires permission according to the directives of thediocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law (canon 844 § 4).Members of the Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of theEast, and the Polish National Catholic Church are urged to respectthe discipline of their own Churches. According to Roman Catholicdiscipline, the Code of Canon Law does not object to the receptionof communion by Christians of these Churches (canon 844 § 3).
For those not receiving Holy Communion: All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in theirhearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with oneanother.
For non-Christians: We also welcome to this celebration those whodo not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we cannot admit themto Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for thepeace and the unity of the human family.

Communion Motet Pues DiosJuan Bautista Comes (1568-1643)
Pues Dios te da sus despojosaquesto sólo has de hacer:
creer y cerrar los ojos, abrir la boca y comer.
En esto está su sosiego,si a tanto bien tu alma aspira:
porque ninguno al sol mira, que no quede en todo ciego.Come y quita tus antojos,
porque aquí sólo has de hacer:creer y cerrar los ojos, abrir la boca y comer.
May God grant you his morsels. This is all you need do:
believe and close your eyes, open your mouth and eat.In this lies your peace:
if your soul aspires to such good;for no one looks at the sunwithout going wholly blind.
Eat, rid yourself of your cravings, for this is all you need do:believe and close your eyes, open your mouth and eat.

THE INCORRUPT HEART OFSAINT JEAN VIANNEY
Through special arrangement with the Sanctuary of Ars inFrance, the incorrupt heart of St. Jean Vianney has returnedto a supreme convention following its U.S. nationwide tourorganized by the Knights of Columbus.
Over the course of seven months (November 10, 2018 – June 13, 2019) this major relic of the patron of parish priestswas venerated in 48 states, 99 dioceses and 22 seminaries.More than 280,000 people were able to venerate the relicduring the “Heart of a Priest” pilgrimage, prayerfullyinvoking the intercession of the saintly Curé d’Ars.
Growing up during the anti-clerical French Revolution, St. Jean Marie Vianney (1786-1859) was inspired by the bravesuffering of priests to pursue his own vocation. Ordained in1815, he lived a life of sacrifice as a parish priest in Ars,spending long hours in the confessional, opening a schooland educating people in the Catholic faith. He imposed onhimself severe penances for the souls of his people and hisreputation for holiness drew pilgrims to his small town. He was canonized in 1925.
The relic will be available for veneration immediately following Mass until Noon.
The Reliquary Chapel is located in Hall A of the Minneapolis Convention Center, adjacent to the Mass room.
Please enter from the hallway.

FATHER MICHAEL J. McGIVNEYMEMORIAL CHALICE
In 1990, to commemorate the centennial of Father Michael J.McGivney’s death, the Knights of Columbus Board ofDirectors commissioned a memorial chalice. The chalicewas crafted by Giansanti Artistic Jewelers, a prestigiousjewelry concern in Rome, Italy. The 18-karat, solid-goldchalice features a node in the form of a globe that depicts theOld and New Worlds, signifying that Christopher Columbusbrought the faith from Europe on his voyage of discovery andevangelization in 1492. A medallion at the base of thechalice bears the likeness of Father McGivney.
First used at the Memorial Mass during the 108th SupremeConvention in San Antonio, Texas, the McGivney Chalice isused at major Orderwide liturgies. Most notably, theMcGivney Chalice was used by St. John Paul II during thePapal Mass co-sponsored by the Order and the Diocese ofBrooklyn in 1995.
Under the base of the chalice is the emblem of the Order andthe inscription:
The Knights of Columbus commissioned this chalice tocommemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of itsfounder, Father Michael J. McGivney, August 14, 1990.
