You know Him, because He lives with you and will be with you… The Companion, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and will remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:15-17, 25-26 CEB The Holy Spirit – Our Great Companion The Holy Spirit is often characterized as a comforter, advocate and our guide, He is all that but I really like the Common English Bible word here… Companion, because it suggestions the deeper relationship, we can have with the Holy Spirit which is more than comforter, advocate or guidance counselor. The Holy Spirit communicates the care and heart of God for us. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him. But we know these things because God has revealed them to us by His Spirit, and His Spirit searches out everything and shows us even God’s deep secrets. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 The Special Support of the Holy Spirit And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever - The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you. John 14:16-18 Amp. Eight Things That Reveals the Personal Ministry of the Holy Spirit The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Cor. 13:14 1. He searches our hearts. (Romans 8:27) 2. He intercedes for us and prompts us to pray. Romans 8:26-27. In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 3. He talks to us. “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Acts 13:2 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Revelation 2:7 4. He teaches us all things. “The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you.” John 14:26 MESSAGE 5. He reminds us of scripture. John 14:26 6. He can be grieved with our actions and attitude. 7. He reveals to us things to come. John 16:13. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 8. He is the one who makes it possible for me to experience and relate to God the Father. Romans 5:5 says God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. The Spirit makes it possible for your relationship with God to come alive. The Spirit helps us experience all the beneXits of being God’s children. He makes the Father become our Abba Father. The Holy Spirit is our friend, and in his presence, there is peace. Peace is a state of tranquility, freedom from disturbance, a state of security, and freedom from oppressive thoughts or emotions. Our lives are starved for the gift of peace. There is no other place to Xind true peace outside of the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Perfect Companion! A friend and a companion who sticks through thick and thin, through pain and trials, a friend who sees your weaknesses but still stays and hold you down is priceless. Is it not comforting to know that God is with you throughout all your life? Core Point: We have the greatest ally, the greatest of all companions, the most special of friends given to us by the Father who loves us without measure. This special relationship with the person of the Holy Spirit is ours to treasure forever! Core Statement: I receive the fellowship of the Holy Spirit for my life. He is my constant companion! He speaks to me and reveals all that God has prepared for me. The Holy Spirit empowers me to live a deep life of connection and purpose in Christ!
