Welcome to NHI’s roundup of 2019 and our first
newsletter of the new decade. We had a busy 2019
hosting several hospitality competitions, exhibitions and
events where I have been very proud to have been able
to present awards to NHI trainees and alumni.
We are calling on all hoteliers to nominate their Omani
employees for the new initiative Hospitality Champions
2020 Awards to ensure we are recognising and
rewarding Oman’s outstanding hospitality professionals.
Nominations must be in by 6 February, see details below.
Thank you for your support and partnerships throughout
2019 and we look forward to continuing to develop
comprehensive and bespoke training programmes and
delivering the very best in recruitment solutions for you in

LuLu Group partnered with NHI in early 2019 to train chefs to join the Middle East's
leading retailer as employees. Having completed training and secured
employment with LuLu Group, LuLu Oman's Regional Director Shabeer KA joined the
new employees at NHI in a ceremony to congratulate them.
He said, "I truly feel that LuLu is a company where employees can follow their
dreams. We give endless opportunities to our employees to learn and grow. It is a
place where those who seek to build a career for themselves can cheerfully do so."

The Food and Hospitality Expo held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre
in October 2019, showcased Omani women demonstrating their impressive
cookery skills and saw them as major contenders in the competitions. Their passion
for cookery and to persue a career as a chef clearly shone through the dishes they
presented, with contestant Ma'ali Al Badri (trainee chef at NHI) sharing "My dream
is to open my own signature restaurant and create a wave of gastronomic
delights."
NHI principal Rob MacLean delighted
with the recognition of some of the
students also commented, "Ever since
we opened the institute about 25 years
ago, we have seen a steady growth in
the number of women joining the chef
training programmes. They have
unsurprisingly thrived and developed
their skills throughout their training to an
industry competitive level. I'm excited to
see where their careers take them when
they have completed their training at NHI."

Al Sahwa Schools has enjoyed a collaborative and professional
relationship with Mr William Wood who has used his experience,
knowledge and skills to guide our institution through regular food
safety audits to a place where we have an excellent
understanding of the standards and practices currently in place
at our school and what still needs to be implemented and
improved. We can recommend NHI with no reservations and
believe they offer an effective and quality-driven service.
