There are several chances to see student art around the Cottey campus. Currently there are two new exhibitions on display in the student gallery. Dr. Holman’s drawing students have posted a figure study and the ceramics I students are displaying ocarinas: a type of musical instrument that is made almost exclusively from clay. The space will also feature photography and graphic design in the weeks leading up to the academic showcase. The library will host a display of pop up books designed by the 2D Design class from October 29 through Thanksgiving Break. The works are conceptually based in literary conflict (human vs. human, human vs. nature, etc) and are formally tied to Gestalt theory, so the students are addressing both English and psychology in visual terms. If you don’t make it to the library often, it might be worthwhile to stop by to see these works. Art is alive and well at Cottey! Make sure that you take the chance to enjoy the talents of our students.
