Once again this year IMM Cologne’s comprehensive event held pointers to the

annual trends of the interior design segment; the 66th edition of one of the most important furnishing fairs in the global furnishing market it was held in conjunction with the third edition of LivingKitchen.

This year the duo roped in 102,000 industry visitors (99,000 industry visitors in 2013) from the national and international trade ensuring that the fair duo exceeded its extraordinary performance of 2013. The huge breadth and depth of the show ranged from self-assembly furniture to premium brands and visionary product designs.

LivingKitchen brought to focus the most cutting-edge solutions for modern kitchens, the fair not only attracted the international market leaders to one location, but it also provided them with a complete overview of the industry.

LivingKitchen enticed visitors into the vibrant world of kitchens; 215 exhibitors presented the most important industry trends in the furniture, appliances and accessories sectors across the three fair halls 4.1, 4.2 and 5.2. The internationality of participants this year increased yet again: a total of 96 exhibitors - around 45 per cent - came from abroad to appear at the fair. LivingKitchen fair

was once again a successful mix of product shows and events. A number of German and international companies made their presence felt, however it was not just the big companies that created a furore; smaller companies and specialist manufacturers too shared the spotlight.

A kaleidoscope of sensual materials, the event witnessed a number of product launches; from the new integrated kitchen appliances range from Panasonic to luxury kitchen cabinets by SieMatic, a number of products were seen for the first time at the fair.

Over 50 companies participated at LivingKitchen for the first time; among them were many renowned manufacturers such as Siemens, Bosch, Miele, Panasonic and V-Zug. The accessories sector

was represented by Duravit, Franke, Grohe and Vil leroy & Boch among others. In the words of Rohit Gupte, Project Manager, Koelnmesse YA Tradefair Pvt. Ltd, “At Living Kitchen the entire industry is focused on innovation, development in design and popular trends.”

From kitchen appliances to kitchen lighting solutions, LivingKitchen was an integrated effort to focus on the micro and macro aspects of the kitchen. The solutions presented also took into account different living spaces for e.g. the free-standing AGA City 60 cooker, measuring just 60 cm across, designed for smaller apartments was presented

internationally for the very first time at the fair.

Siemens introduced its ovens, steam ovens and dishwashers from the iQ700 built-in range. The appliances can be controlled by an app via a smartphone or tablet. In the sinks and accessories segment, Quooker presented a considerably simplified installation of its “boiling-water tap”.

Among these newly launched products the “Modern Art” kitchen model by Allmilmö celebrated its 25th anniversary while at LivingKitchen. The handle-free kitchen was

presented at IMM Cologne for the first time in 1990 and has undergone various meticulous modifications and technological advancements over time.

Three fully booked halls, the successful combination of kitchen furniture manufacturers, electrical appliances producers and kitchen accessory suppliers made LivingKitchen a complete success. The third edition of the event once again offered more than just a simple presentation of products - amongst the exhibitors, professional

chefs and lots of TV celebrities were trying to outdo each other in the cooking stakes, making the programme a delight for industry visitors and consumers alike.

The focus on kitchen centric events was furthered by the Edeka Engels Kitchen Quiz which took place for four times a day. Prizes included shopping vouchers worth EUR 100 and fantastic gift hampers.

Of the many highlights at the dual fair (IMM Cologne + LivingKitchen) was a program called “The Stage” which discussed developments in international design. The spotlight

was on China and India respectively, in an interview with the designers of “Das Haus”, Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, and in presentations by Poonam Choudhry and Kavita Chaudhary. The topics of sustainability and health were also dealt with at “The Stage”; connecting thoughts on sustainability to the current outlook on a mobile society were also discussed.

The Pure Talents Contest, an international newcomer competition, was also one show which was open to anyone with an interest in design. The exhibition of winning entries from the Pure Talents Contest was aimed at

anybody searching for variety among the huge selection of market-driven and high-end versions: prototypes, experimental approaches and unconventional solutions presented by the young designers themselves.

The winners of the Pure Talents Contest were The Cooking Table by Moritz Putzier, UDO (shelving system) by Sara Mellone and Abyss (luminaire) by Tobias Nitsche, Manuel Amaral Netto and Cesare Bizzotto.Contactwww.imm-cologne.comwww.livingkitchen-cologne.de

Spread across 20,000 sq. ft. the facility houses a state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution set up, a fabrication training workshop and a Window Testing rig along with an application centre.

Electric FencingYou can now enjoy round the clock vigilance with minimum maintenance cost thanks to the new electric fences available in the market. Power fencing is the latest technology in perimeter protection. These active fences punish the trespasser the moment he touches or tries to tamper with the fence. They give a sharp but safe shock to create psychological fear in the intruder. In case of any tampering, the alarm in the system gets triggered and the residents of the protected area are alerted.

Pet Friendly SensorsPet owners can now install motion sensors without any apprehensions. The new pet friendly motion sensors can distinguish between an intruder and your beloved pet by allowing animals weighing up to 100lbs to move around without raising an alarm. This new technology allows you to also view live videos of your pet at any time of the day. It can also alert you through text messages or emails when the dog walker or pet sitter does not show up.

The Supreme Industr ies Ltd, founded in 1942, p ioneered many path-

breaking products in the country and became trendsetters in plastic by introducing many advanced solutions for various applications and industries.

Supreme’s insulation division

Insulate With Insuflex Supreme introduces Insuflex, a high vapour resistant insulator for air-conditioning applications. BY SHIBANI PUNEKAR

offers solutions in the areas of ducting insulation, underdeck insulation, pipe insulation, floor insulation, insulation joint sealing tapes, sound insulation, overdeck insulation and wall insulation.

The main goal of a good insulation material should be that of preventing water vapour from spreading through insulation as water is an optimal heat conductor. Insuflex by Supreme Industries is a CFC-free, black flexible elastomeric closed-cell nitrile rubber thermal insulation that provides a highly efficient method of insulation and effectively controls condensation aga in s t bo th hea t l o s s and heat gain.

The material is particularly suitable for insulating pipe works for condensation control. It can be used on chilled water pipe lines, refrigerated pipe-works, hot and cold water services and on sheets or rolls in air-conditioning ductworks.

Insuf l ex has a ve r y h igh diffusion resistance factor to water vapour transmission, low thermal conductivity and an excellent fire safe performance. It is suitable for

a wide range of temperatures and it does not depend on any additional outer thick skin or covering but is in built with the insulation and extends through the thickness.

Insuflex range is resistant to corrosion, fungal and mildew growth and is therefore suitable for c lean room applicat ions. Thermal conductivity is the main

data used to technically calculate insulation thickness required to prevent condensation.

I n s u f l e x i s a v a i l a b l e i n combinations of various wall thicknesses and diameters to suit G.L, copper and PVC pipes.

The product is applied to the surface using an adhesive compound. A protective layer of glass cloth, in two layers with an adhesive compound is then applied before providing a weather barrier such as aluminium or G.I. cladding for outdoor applications.

Supreme has launched more innovative products like Insushield and Insureflector in the Insurange. Insushie ld i s a non-f ibrous , fire retardant, environmentally friendly product and is the perfect solution for all your insulation needs for ducts, roofs, pipes, vessels, etc.

Insureflector is a radiant heat ref lective insulation material with a low mass to air ratio which effectively blocks the radiant heat transfer.Contactwww.supreme.co.in
