The All Church Picnic is sponsored by the Fishermen. The weatherman makes no promises, but it looks as if the rain will end by picnic time! Just in case, we have the option of moving indoors. So, Rain or Shine, we plan to have the potluck picnic. The Fishermen will provide ice cream, drinks (lemonade and iced tea) , and plates and plasticware. A gas grill will be available, so bring your burgers and dogs to grill and a dish to share.

Sunday School Director Position

The SVUMC is accepting applications for the position of Sunday School Director. A job description is available in the Church office. Your resume and application can be dropped off in the Church Office. Contact Pastor Matt or Beverly Tucker.

The English-as-a-Second Language classes are being postponed until January of 2019 due to volunteer availability. At that time, we are looking at classes from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesdays and Fridays, starting January 7 and running for 12 weeks. We welcome volunteers and subs. Three proposals are on the table for “A Way Forward” as the United Methodist Church deals with the issues of human sexuality. They are the:

• One Church Plan• Connectional Conference Plan• Traditionalist Plan.

Still SickMy seriously ill computer went into the hospital (Apple Store) for surgery and is feeling better. Hopefully it will make a quick and fully recovery so the Jaunt can continue uninterrupted.

On Sunday, October 21st, after the first and second services, a free pancake breakfast will be served in the Fellowship Hall. Delicious fellowship is a bonus! Don’t go home hungry!

Make a Difference Day is fast approaching!

The Wednesday Ladies’ Bible Study will not meet during the Fall Break. We will resume our study of Acts on October 17. Come join us!

Ladies’s Bible Study

The SVUMC “J-Walkers” youth group meets Sundays after the last service from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm in the Serenity Room. Discussion, activities and lunch will be provided. All kids 6th - 12th grade are invited!

We want to send our special Thanks and Praise to Pastor Matt Ashley, Pastor Mark Conrad and Pastor Peter Vaught for all the prayers, during this time of Jim’s sudden illness.

And all the support, prayers and cards and phone calls from our Church Family. God surely has blessed us with his Mercies and Healing.

The doctor’s told us that Jim is a very special case, We all know why. God surely is walking with us through ALL our challenges, no matter how difficult they become. God has placed his hands upon Jim with blessing and healing.

Praise be to our Lord God!!

In the Fellowship Hall, Nancy Buttke is offering strength training classes. Classes are held each Monday and Friday as follows:

8:30 a.m. Strength Class: Lifting weights using dumbbells and ankle weights (about 1 hour)

9:45 a.m. Back/Abs Class: For people with back problems who need to strengthen their core (back and abdominal muscles, 30 minutes)

10:30 a.m. Class for People with Parkinson’s (PWP) and their caregivers

3:40 p.m. Another Back/Abs Class: 30 minutes

4:15 to 5 p.m. Another strength class

There is no fee. Donations are accepted. For more info contact Nancy at 378-3765.
