THE ENERGY ACT (BLENDING OF POWER ALCOHOL WITH MOTOR GASOLINE) REGULATIONS, 2009

1. These regulations may be cited as the Energy Act (Blending of power alcohol with motor gasoline) Regulations, 2009.

2. In these Regulations, unless the content otherwise requires–

“power alcohol” means bioethanol meeting Kenya Standard KS 03-382 or any revisions thereon.

“motor gasoline” means fossil fuel meeting Kenya Standard KS 2060 or any revisions thereon.

“gasohol” means the fuel made from blending power alcohol and motor gasoline to meet Kenya Standard KS 03-515: 1990 or any revisions thereon.

“Kenya Standard” means the specification or code of practice declared by the National Standards Council under section 9 of the Standards Act, Cap. 496.

3. With effect from 1st March 2010, all motor gasoline loaded from the petroleum storage and loading depots indicated in Schedule 1 herewith, for sale in Kenya, shall be blended with power alcohol to make gasohol.

THE following notes are for the guidance of persons submitting “copy” for inclusion in the Kenya Gazette, Supplement, etc.:

(1) The Kenya Gazette contains Notices of a general nature which do not affect legislation. They are, therefore, submitted to the Government Printer directly.

(2) Legislative Supplement contains Rules and Regulations which are issued by the Central Government. Because of this, they must be submitted to the Government Printer through the office of the Attorney-General.

(3) Bill Supplement contains Bills which are for introduction in the National Assembly.

(4) Act Supplement contains Acts passed by the National Assembly.

All “copy” submitted for publication should be prepared on one side of an A4 sheet no matter how small the Notice is, each page being numbered and should be typewritten with double spacing. Copy should be clear, legible and contain no alterations.

Particular attention should be paid to the following points:

(i) Signature must be supported by rubber-stamping or typing the name of the signatory in capital letters.

(ii) Dates must be correct and filled in where necessary.

(iii) Care should be taken to ensure that all headings to Notices and references to legislation are up to date and conform with the Revised Edition of the Laws of Kenya.
