The Lake of the Cross

The Lake of the Cross is one of the biggest natural dam in Romania and it is located in The Stanisoara Mountains in the village of Garcina near Piatra Neamt. The supply area of the lake is delimited in the north by Tarnitelor Peak ( 1081m ) and Magura Garcinia ( 873 m ) east of the Halageanu Summit( 1017 ) and Muncelul Peak ( 1067 m ) west of Piciorul Crucii Hill and Piciorul Rotund.

The dam has a height between 25 m to the right coast and 30 m to the left coast and a length of about 80 m.

The Lake was formed in several phases starting in 1978 on the middle course of the Cuejdel stream (left tributary of Cuejdiu river ) , through successive earth fall and landslides on the left side of the valley at the base of Munticelu summit.

The landslide happened between 0.5 and 1.5 km upstream of the confluence with Cuiejdiul river over a surface of 35 hectares , the thickness of the deposits varying from 5 to 25 m and even more in the dam area.

Bicaz Lake) is a reservoir on the middle course of the Bistrița River at 4 km upstream of the town of Bicaz. Its general direction is from the Northwest to the Southeast.

It has-on average-a length of 35 km and a perimeter of 71 km, an area of 32,6 km² and a maximum water volume of 1.250 million m³, and it is the second-largest artificial lake in Romania and third in height.

It is a dam constructed of concrete and it joins Gicovanu Mountain with Obcina Horștei,it is located upstream on the confluence between Izvorul Muntelui and Bistrita .It was built between 1950 and 1960, has a height of 127 meters, a length of 435 m and a maximum width of 119 m.

Siret River

Siret River is a river that crosses the Ukrainian territory and Romania and flows into the Danube.

Siret River flows from the Forested Carpathians found in Northern Bucovina , at an altitude of 1,238 m. Its springs are near the town Sipotele pe Siret.

Siret River is over 706 km long (out of which 596 km on Romanian territory and 110km on Ukrainian territory) and flows into the Danube near Galati. Between the tributaries of the river it has the biggest water flow basin in Romania.

The banks of the Siret River are made up of gravel layers, sand and loess. In spring and summer when the snow melts and after heavy rainfall the river Siret may cause flooding. If the normal width of the Siret river is between 70-100 m and depth of 0.20 to 0.70 m, during snowmelt or heavy rainfall, its width increases to 200 m and the depth reaches 2-3 m.

Moldova River

Moldova River is a river in the historic region of Moldavia in Romania, tributary of Siret River. Moldova river springs from Lucina peak in Obcina Feredeu. Its source is near the village of Moldova-Sulița, the territory of Suceava County

It flows over a distance of 237 km in a Northeast Southeast direction and through the territories of three counties: Suceava, Iași and Neamț. In its length, 150 km is located on the territory of the Suceava County, where its water basin occupies more than 35% of the area of the County.

Along its flow, Moldova crosses several areas, including the cities of Campulung Moldovenesc and Roman. Moldova flows into the Siret River in the territory of Neamț County, in the vicinity of the town of Roman. From the Moldova River, the Romanian historical province was named and also the medieval state-Moldavia.
