Important factors w hen choosing a coach:Great coaches will let you know that they can offer you usefulnew skills, awareness and knowledge, and help you integratewhat you’ve learned, into your day-to-day life.

Make sure that the executive being coached, wants it. Iread a great quote about coaching- ‘What was stigma(“You’re so broken you need a coach?”) has becomestatus symbol (“You’re so valuable you get a coach?”).’ If it works for the President of the United States, I feelconfident to say there is something for everyone incoaching. However the client has to want to change-otherwise it is a waste of time and money for everyoneconcerned.Confidentiality. This is huge and an appropriatelyqualified Coach is ethically bound by the InternationalCoaching Federation (ICF) to keep all the client'sinformationconfidential. http://www.coachfederation.org.uk/Certification is a must when choosing a coach. Experience in business does not make someone acoach, it makes them a consultant. Certified coachesare trained professionals and hold many skills that aconsultant doesn’t.Company Support is absolutely essential to ensure themost is taken out of the coaching. Changing yourthought patterns and actions is hard, to do thisunsupported by your Co-Directors or judged by yourteam makes this near impossible.

Straight from the horse’s mouth:“3 months on and I am a convert to coaching. We are morejoined up, enthused and empowered as a cohesivemanagement team celebrating individuals and sharing oursuccess. Thank you Lauren…” Director, Granite Search & Selection Ltd, London

Coaching is an essential part of forward thinking, successful, modern, pro-active companies. It's success is being seen allover the world and is becoming a huge part of modern daybusiness. My advice if you are lucky enough to be coached;give 100% of yourself, step out of your comfort zone, bevulnerable, be brave and open to learning. Finally enjoywatching yourself grow, gaining clarity and increasedfulfilment that comes with this very unique process.
