Brothers and Sisters,
June is upon us. It is the month we celebrate Old Glory. What does our flag symbolize to you? My grandfather was a Marine, two of my uncles and their sons have served in the marines, and my favorite uncle Lowell retired from the army. When I see our beautiful flag waving in the breeze it reminds me how many brave men and women have fought for my freedom. Behind each of them is a family who has been through times of not knowing if their loved one was safe, if they would come back home. On the 14
th, our lodge will again celebrate Flag Day at the B-Mets stadium.
Come join us! See the flyer at the lodge or contact Paul Reger for more information. Let’s show our American pride! Lastly, Take time to pause on the 14
th to reflect and say a prayer for all those
who have served and are serving now to keep us safe in the land of the free and the home of the brave. ER Trivia – every month I will be writing an elk trivia question in my monthly message. The answer can be found on the NYS elks (www.nyselks.org) or Grand Lodge (www.elks.org) site. Your answer can be submitted at lodge for entry into a drawing for $20 worth of lottery tickets.
June trivia question – Answer these three questions about the Elk’s Veterans Memorial: 1 – What year was the committee formed to design the memorial? 2 – What year did construction start? 3 – How many elks lost their lives in World War 1?
Submit answer by – June 14 to be entered in drawing. Good luck! Fraternally, Hope Woodcock-Ross, exalted ruler
ER Hope Woodcock-Ross Email: [email protected] cell: 607-222-8412 Look throughout this newsletter for a membership number. It will look like this **999**. If it is your number, just come to the lodge bar and claim your ‘Friday Night Dinner For One’ prize certificate. The winner must come in person and show his or her membership card to the bartender. Your prize must be claimed before the month has ended. That’s all there is to it! You can then use it on any Friday Night.
