VERY IMPORTANT!!

Watch Your Emails We will be emailing the 4-H newsletter, a weekly news blast and communicating important 4-H information to your family’s e-mail addresses with “Randall 4-H” in the subject line.

4-H Academic Eligibility You must be enrolled in 4-H and be making passing grades in school be-fore you can compete in any 4-H contest. The reason we ask you to notify us so early that you want to compete in county contests is because we must check with your school to see if you are passing at least two weeks in advance of the contest. Extension sends a letter to your school with the contest name, date and whether competition will require you to miss any school.

Don’t forget that it is still your responsibility to let your school know the exact dates you will be absent from school so they will know how to code your absence. If they don’t know why you’re not at school, you may be given an unexcused absence. You should also get assignments from your teachers before leaving.

If you are not academically eligible to compete, the school will notify a county agent who will let one of your parents know that there is a prob-lem with your grades.

Attention: Club and Project Leaders

If you have something you would like placed in the 4-H newsletter, please e-mail the Extension Office at [email protected] by the 20th of each month or the following Monday if the 20th is on the weekend. We will no longer be calling you for this information. Your club will be told to con-tact a club leader for meeting information.

Meeting Room Reservation Requests If you want to schedule a meeting in one of the Kuhlman Extension Center meeting rooms, please fill out a Meeting Room Reservation Request Form found at http://randall.agrilife.org/4h-youth-development-2/forms-2/misc-forms/.

You may bring the completed form to the Extension Office or send it to the Randall County box [email protected]. We’ll confirm that your meeting has been placed on the calendar. Remember, it’s first come, first served so make a reservation as soon as you find out you’re having a meeting.

Major Stock Show Information Got a question about one of the major stock shows, you can find a link for each of them at http://d14-h.tamu.edu/about-2/.

Quality Counts Certification Numbers

If you plan on competing in the County or any major stock show and have not completed the Quality County Training and Testing, you must get this done. This is an online training that basically covers livestock feeding and medication as well as ethic topics. It takes about 20 minutes to complete the training and test.

There is a junior level as well as a senior level test. Jun-iors (ages 9-13 as of September 1st) must pass your test only once during their 4-H career at which time you will be issued a certificate of completion number. When you become a senior (ages 14-19 as of September 1st) you must take and pass a senior test at which time you will be issued another completion number.

THIS NUMBER IS VERY IMPORTANT as it will be a re-quirement to be recorded on the County Stock Show and all major show entry forms. BE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH IT. For compete instructions on how to take this test, go to: http://randall.agrilife.org/files/2013/04/quality-counts-packet.pdf

Williams). Please bring your own lawn chair because

we’ll probably be inside because of the cold. You may

bring your own pig, but you don’t have to.
