The rock is a musical genre whose story has evolved over the
years, and this evolution is reflected greatly in the subgenres
that have emerged from this. What we now know as Rock N
'Roll is all a fold of proposals that have merged various
rhythms and explored new sounds through electronic music.
With the emergence of these new sounds and the need to
merge them into one scenario that could draw crowds, born
rock music festivals, which today are many, but only a few
can hold thousands of people over several days: Lollapaloo-
za, Rock in Rio, Coachella, Glastonbury and Vive Latino.

Musical Vive Latino, is an annual rock
music festival carried out in Mexico City between
the months of April and May. This festival is one of
the most important Spanish rock music festivals in
the world and its duration is three days.

It has several scenarios, traditionally
three. But starting in 2009, was in-
stalled a scenario called "Intolerant
Tent", and in 2003 there was a fourth
scenario dedicated to electronic mu-
sic. The festival also has a strong
presence of ska and reggae and it
has an urban art exhibitions such as
graffiti with samples of all of Latin
America and the important cultural
space "Tianguis”.
Rock in Rio is an event founded in Brazil. It is a series of music festivals
developed in three cities: Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Lisbon in Portugal
and Madrid in Spain. This festival has been the largest music festival in
the world, with 1.5 million people in the first edition, 700,000 in both the
second and fourth editions, about 1.2 million in the third, and about
350,000 people in each of the 3 Lisbon editions.
The first festival was held from 11 to 20 Jan-
uary 1985. Queen, George Benson, Rod
Stewart, AC/DC and Yes were the headliners
each of them occupied the first position dur-
ing two nights. Around 1.4 million people at-
tended during the 10 days of the festival.
The second edition was held from 18 to 27
January 1991 in the Maracana Stadium. The
headliners were Guns N 'Roses, Judas
Priest, Megadeth, Prince and George Mi-
chael.
Is an annual music festival that

by Perry Farrell, singer of Jane's
Addiction.
Lollapalooza means "something unusual and
extraordinary" and it was conceived by Farrell
in the farewell festival Jane's Addiction in 1990.
Lollapalooza was a travel-
ing festival that appeared
in several USA's cities
and Canada, but since
2011 the annual version is
only performed in Santia-
go de Chile and in USA.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual three-day music and
arts festival that it is performed at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. It was
founded by Paul Tollett and currently it is organized by Golden voice. This festival
shows many music genres like rock, indie, hip hop and electronic music, also it ex-
hibits a large sculptural art. Its main stages are: Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre,
Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, and the Sahara Tent, and the principal characteristic of this
festival is to show many of the popular and emerging preformances in music and of
course, artists known.
The first edition was in 1999 and around 10.000 people attended the two daysof the
inaugural event, with headliners like Beck, The Chemical Brothers, Tool, Morrissey,
and Rage Against the Machine. For the last edition in april 2012 the tickets were
sold out in only three hours and some artist were Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Radiohead,
Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Miike Snow, Justice, Gotye, Noel Gallagher,
among others.
Coachella included tent camping as
an option for staying at the festival
since 2003 and in the edition of
2012, the site for this activity includ-
ed recycling, general store, show-
ers, mobile phone charging stations,
and an internet cafe with free WiFi.
The festival also has environmental
initiative that includes carpooling
which include rewards for people
who participate and the "10 for 1 re-
cycling program" in which anyone
who brings ten empty water bottles
will be given a fresh new water bot-
tle for free.
The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Per-
forming Arts is a performing arts festival that it is
carried out near to Pilton, Somerset, UK. Its founder
Michael Eavis, a farmer of Somerset, started the
festival in 1970 with influences of hippie ethics and
the free festival movement and currently is the prin-
cipal characteristic is its contemporary music,
dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret shows and
other arts.
The first edition of the festival was of Pilton Pop, Blues
& Folk Festival and attended around 1.500 people.
The headliners were The Kinks and Wayne Fontana
and Tyrannosaurus Rex. The last edition was in 2011
with headliners like U2, Coldplay and Beyoncé and in
2012 there was not edition because the event will take
place in the same dates of the Olympic Games of Lon-
don and there were not enough portable toilets for fes-
tival goers and police to provide security at the event.
Glastonbury Festi-
val is the largest
greenfield music
and performing
arts festival in the
world and a tem-
plate for all the fes-
tivals that have
come after it. The
difference is that
Glastonbury has
all the best as-
pects of being at a
Festival in one
astonishing bun-
dle.
The Vive Latino Festival 2013 will be held from 15 to
17 March 2013, at Foro Sol in Mexico City.
Line-up confirmed Vive Latino 2013:
Blur, Morrissey, Yeah yeah yeahs, Underworld, Sil-
versun Pickups, Ska-p, Fobia, Los Fabulosos Cadi-
llacs, Los Auténticos decadentes, Carla Morrison, El
Cuarteto de Nos, Bomba Estéreo, entre otros.
The edition of Rock in Rio in Brazil in 2013 has concerts
scheduled for 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22 September
next year.
Three bands were confirmed for Rock in Rio 2013: Metalli-
ca , Iron Maiden y Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band .
Lollapalooza announces Lollapalooza Israel in Tel Aviv’s
Yarkon Park, August 20-22, 2013. Israel will join Chile and
Brazil as the third international location for the legendary
festival, in addition to the US festival in Chicago .
The 2013 edition will carry out in 12th to 14th april
and 19th to 21st april and until now only is confirmed
the participation of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Amanda Palm-
er, Diiv, Paul Kalkbrenner, Hardwell and Kill The
Noise.
The 2013 line-up that will carry out in wednesday
26th to sunday 30th June, will not be announced until
to next year's Festival, but tickets are already sold
out.
