What others say about the Land Report

BILLIONAIRE BUSINESSMEN BUYING UP MEGA-RANCHES

“Many of the bigger properties are known as ‘legacy’ ranches in part because buyers want to stake their claim in history. These ranches stand out for their size, unusual location, or a unique feature, says Eric O’Keefe, editor of The Land Report, which publishes an annual ranking of the largest 100 private landowners in the country. To make that list requires owning 100,000 deeded acres or more.”

THE NEW TEXAS LAND RUSH

“Energy Transfer Partners CEO Kelcy Warren kicked off a ranch-buying spree when he bought the Boot Jack Ranch in Southwest Colorado for $46.5 million in 2010, says Eric O’Keefe, editor of The Land Report, a quarterly magazine about landowners and their properties. Originally listed at $88 million, the 3,151-acre property included a 13,825-square-foot main residence, four guest log cabins and ample water rights.”

A RANCH WITH 1,000 ACRES, FOR YOUR INNER BUCKAROO

“Eric O’Keefe, the editor of The Land Report, a quarterly magazine based in Dallas, said: ‘Recreational ranches don’t have any income streams associated with them. Think of it like buying a Chateau Margaux or a Picasso, just something to enjoy.’”

“Within 10 days of the ad breaking in The Land Report for a very large Mississippi hunting tract, we had several leads and the eventual buyer in hand.”

TOM SMITHTOM SMITH LAND & HOMES, LLC | MISSISSIPPI

“Landowners and brokers trust The Land Report. With page after page of analysis, trends, and well-crafted profiles, The Land Report is second to none and appeals to first-time buyers of smaller tracts as well as the nation’s leading landowners.”

“The Land Report magazine has provided an essential service to a segment of real estate that has been devoid of a source of industry news and information. We have found that serious land investors read The Land Report, making it the ideal magazine in which Fay Ranches maintains a strong presence.”

“The Land Report is one of the best publications to advertise our great ranches of Texas. It’s a world-class magazine read by world-class individuals.”

“When marketing land auctions, The Land Report and LandReport.com is the first stop for Hall & Hall Auctions! Comprehensive credibility makes The Land Report a must-buy for any land marketing program!”

DIGITAL FILE SPECIFICATIONSOur magazines are printed from computer to plate using CMYK process color. Only 4-color digital files will be accepted.

PREFERRED FORMATSMAC users may send InDesign CS2 with asso-ciated images and fonts. PC users are recom-mended to call before sending files. Hi-res PDF files are accepted when created at a minimum of 300dpi. PDF files must contain proper registra-tion marks and bleed at least 1/8” beyond the trim.

PREFLIGHTING FILESPlease preflight electronic files before submitting to ensure all graphics and fonts are included and all color files are converted to 4-color process. Pantone colors will be converted to CMYK and may result in a slight color variance. Our line-screen is at 150. Please make sure all graphics are placed at an acceptable resolution (300dpi) full size. We will not be responsible for any errors resulting from submitted files that have not been preflighted.

COLOR PROOFSAll ads should be accompanied by an acceptable color proof. Digital Waterproof, Kodak Approval, Polaproof, Iris, or Rainbow are acceptable and should conform to SWOP standards to ensure that the printed results match the supplied proof. If ads are submitted without adequate color proofs, one will be provided by the publisher, and the cost will be charged back to the customer.

BLEEDSCreate at least 1/8” (.125’’) bleed beyond trim on top, bottom, and sides. Build spreads as printer spreads (two separate pages in the Quark file). This will allow for the proper bleed across the gutter for binding.

LIVE AREAAll critical graphic information must be kept in a safe area 1/2” from trim. Keep critical information 3/8” out on both sides of the gutter to preserve information on crossovers.

DENSITYA maximum ink density of 280% is preferred. Rich black should be built as C-60% M-60% Y-60% K-100%.

FILE SUBMISSIONFiles may be sent on CD, DVD, or posted on an FTP site. Clearly label your discs and include any special instructions. In some cases, files may be uploaded to our FTP site. Please email request for our current FTP instructions. Color proofs are still required of files uploaded to the FTP. Discs and other materials will not be returned unless requested in writing.

A Monthly Report for the American Landowner

NATURE CONSERVANCY ACQUIRES 49,555-ACRE JE CANYON RANCHMirr Ranch Group listing sells for $21 million.

Situated in the canyon country of Southeastern

Colorado, JE Canyon is considered one of the most biologically diverse ranches in the western portion of the Great Plains. The 77-square-mile tract features nine miles of the Purgatoire River, six miles of Chacuaco Creek, and more than 50 miles of sandstone canyons. Of crucial significance is the presence of the largest herd of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep in the Centennial State. “JE Canyon has been on The Nature Conservancy’s radar for almost 20 years, and we feel fortunate to have had such great partners, including Mirr Ranch Group, Corwin Brown, our generous supporters, and Conservancy staff who worked so hard on this project,” said Michael Higuera, land conservation program manager for The Nature Conservancy. “This nearly 50,000-acre ranch that is home to over 865 plant and animal species will be permanently protected, as will some of the most iconic scenery in all of Southeastern Colorado.” Said listing broker Ken Mirr, “Mirr Ranch Group has always sought a conservation-minded buyer for this property, and found the ultimate conservation buyer in The Nature Conservancy.” Read more HERE.

US FARM TRUST CLOSES $300 MILLION FUND

Institutional investors back privately held REIT.

S an Antonio-based US Farm Trust announced on Aug. 13 that it has closed on over $300 million in

commitments from institutional investors. The real estate investment trust (REIT) was established to

acquire and manage high-quality row-crop farmland throughout the U.S. and will work with sellers and

farmers to create attractive sale-and-leaseback structures. Thanks to its capitalization, the REIT will be able

to purchase even the largest farms on an expedited basis without a financing contingency.

“The strategy of US Farm Trust is to work as closely as possible with farmers who will see us as not just

a buyer but as a partner in the success of their operations,” said Tommy Funk, US Farm Trust Advisors’

president and the former National Farmland Acquisition Manager at US Trust, Bank of America Private

Wealth Management. “Our capital will help the farmer maximize return on investment and maybe even

provide a solution to long-term financial planning needs.” Learn more HERE.
