Introduction

The middle ages cover the period between the fall of the western roman empire in the 5th century and the

renaissance (a rebirth in learning at the end of the 15th century).

The Dark Ages

The dark ages start from the 400CE to the 800CE.At teh beggining of this period, Germanic tribes pushed across the frontiersof the western roman empire, destroying towns and

making trade  routes dangerous.

New Kingdoms

New kingdoms ruled by strong leaders began to emerge, and life in Europe became more estable. This encouraged trade

and the growth of towns and cities, and the population of europe rose.

Medieval Kings

Medieval kings believed they had absolute power over their subjects, given to them by God. The king's royal court was the

centre and showpiece of the Kingdom, where the king demostrate his power with great ceremonies and banquets.
