The Messenger Spring 2016
Dear Faculty,
I just completed reviewing the Fall 2015 Senior Exit Surveys. Thirty-one students completed the survey (27 in Management and 4 in MIS).
Some of the results are as follows:
“Very Satisfied” or “Satisfied” with decision to earn BBA in Management De-partment (30 of 31 students)
Quality of Instruction either “Excellent” or “Good” (29 of 31 students)
Faculty “Frequently” or “Regularly” available outside of class (31 of 31 stu-dents)
“Very Likely” or “Likely” to recommend program to a friend (31 of 31 students)
4 individuals attained a certification
4 completed an internship
2 completed a study abroad program
20 out of 29 responding did not have problems with availability of classes in major (there was no one central reason that the others noted they had problems – it ranged from availability, type of course – online vs tradition-al, courses filling up quickly, advising issues, etc.)
We also continue to collect indirect measures on our four Management and four MIS program goals. We should hear something soon about the results of the SACS evaluation of our report that happened before the break. I should then have a better idea of how our work in assessment within the department fits in with the approach UWG is now taking with SACS accreditation.
I look forward to seeing you soon.

The Richards College of Business can now,
officially recognize and reward students for their
“SAP skillset.”
Because of Dr. Jeannie Pridmore’s proposal and
hard work, our college was approved this
January to identify students that have met
specific requirements outlined by SAP with a “SAP
Student Recognition Award.”
The criteria for this upcoming award is listed be-
low . This recognition/award is issued by the
school. It is signed by the school official, usually
the college Dean, and the appropriate University
Alliances (UA) Program Manager.
The specific criteria are determined by the
University Alliances member school with the fol-
lowing minimum standards:
Student must complete all SAP-supported
coursework with a C or better
Qualifying courses must contain at least a
one third hands-on component using SAP
products
Students must complete a minimum of three
different courses containing SAP content
The qualifying courses must be approved in
advance by the University Alliances

Susana Velez-Castrillon organized a
Professional Development Workshop
(PDW) at the 2015 Academy of
Management (AOM) Conference in
Vancouver. The PDW “Opening AOM
Governance to Create International
Dialogue” featured panelists from the
Affiliated and Associated Societies of the
AOM. Through this PDW the societies
were able to discuss issues of
internationalization and governance, and to explore opportunities for collaboration among the societies.
A meeting of the international societies affiliated with AOM had not been convened for years, and
participants were very glad to have the opportunity to meet each other and discuss opportunities for
cooperation. The high-level networking opportunities afforded by this PDW were very well reviewed by
the sponsoring committee, Diversity and Inclusion Theme Committee (D&ITC).

Michael Wilson graduated in spring 2014 from UWG with a B.B.A. in Management
with a minor in German . During his academic career, he participating in a study
abroad program to Germany managed by the UWG Foreign Language dept. to the
Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, one of UWG’s sister schools.
After graduating he moved to Colorado and worked for a short period of time before
deciding to further his education abroad. He is currently enrolled in a engineering
physics program with a concentration in biomedical engineering and acoustics. The
school is located in Oldenburg Germany, a small city of 150,000 people. Apart from
free tuition offered to all students, this university only charges 328 Euro (approx.
$350-400) twice a year for enrollment fees, which also covers unlimited free travel to
most places in Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), Germany. The Engineering Physics
program is taught primarily in English during the first four semesters, then German
for the last two. Universität Oldenburg has a wonderful International Student pro-
gram that offers multiple events to help international students meet one another and
have a full experience during their studies. The school provides numerous social/
cultural excursions such as game & movie nights, and trips to locations in Europe (i.e.,
trips include going to Berlin, Prague, the Netherlands), and also a climate house
where one can experience nine different climates in one day. Michael highly encour-
ages students who wish to travel abroad, or obtain a second degree, travel to Olden-
burg and experience the vast amount of cultural experiences that they have to offer.
In case you don’t have any German language skills, that is ok as well. More than half
of the city’s population speaks English, and the university offers German language
courses for people with no experience.
