DescriptionPresented by the MGH Radiological Society, this CME course will include a symposium and poster session in the afternoon on the MGH Campus O’Keeffe Auditorium and the Hampton Lecture and sit-down dinner and dancing at the Boston Harbor Hotel.

Course Overview

The Frontiers in Imaging course is designed to educate practicing radiologists and radiology trainees about advancements in the field of radiology. The majority of lectures will be given by faculty of Harvard Medical School. Topics selected reflect pertinent issues facing the imaging field including cutting edge advancements, use and acceptance of new screening imaging tools, role of informatics in radiology and electronic health records, and population health management. All speakers are well known in their fields and have been speakers at recent national and international radiology conferences.

Cutting edge advancements include – use and application of PET and PET/MRI imaging. Screening imaging tools includes a discussion of CT for lung cancer screening. There will also be lectures on development of informatics tools to help manage the growing data in electronic health records and a lecture on population health management. The poster session will include an overview of the basic science imaging research conducted at the MGH Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Center. Lectures presented will be evidence-based and reflect the best clinical practice. Topics include: PET/MR motion correction, Stem Cell Tx, In-Room PET for Proton Therapy and many more.

The course is designed to improve learner competence so that participating radiologists can apply new strategies in their clinical practice, thereby improving performance in practice.

1. Acquire competence in regards to the impact of CT for lung cancer screening in a radiology practice and learn strategies to comply with the pending changes.

2. Acquire competence as to population health management strategies and use of informatics to improve health care efficiency, quality, and cost.

3. Acquire competence in new imaging tools such as PET and PET/MRI and thus hopefully improve performance by applying knowledge learned of these new imaging tools to their own practices.

Learning ObjectivesUpon completion of this course, participants will be able to:1. Evaluate the impact of new PET agents, PET/MR

imaging, and CT for lung cancer screening on clinical care.

2. Determine ways to use informatics and population health management to improve health care quality and efficiency.

3. Evaluate emerging technologies in imaging and apply them to the care of your patients.

Accreditation The Harvard Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Harvard Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ACGME CompetenciesThis course is designed to enhance the following Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education competencies: Patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, and systems-based practice.

HMS Disclosure PolicyHarvard Medical School (HMS) adheres to all ACCME Essential Areas, Standards, and Policies. It is HMS’s policy that those who have influenced the content of a CME activity (e.g. planners, faculty, authors, reviewers and others) disclose all relevant financial relationships with commercial entities so that HMS may identify and resolve any conflicts of interest prior to the activity.
