Goal One – Eradicate extreme hunger and poverty
• The Australian Government developed a comprehensive approach targeting the immediate impacts of the crisis on the poor people.
• They are also strengthening the foundation of long-term global food security.
The Government is:1. Lifting agricultural productivity2. Improving rural livelihoods 3. Building community resilience

Goal Two – Achieve universal primary education
• Australia’s education supports extending from basic needs to technical and vocational skills training skills and improving level qualifications.
• Australia is helping many countries such as Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Pacific Island Countries, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Goal Three – Promote gender equality and empower women
• Australia has helped more girls attend school• Australian support is helping more women
take on leadership roles in government, business, schools and within their community.
• Australia has helped women who were subjected to violence.
• Australia is improving the health and wellbeing of women and children

Goal Four – Reduce child mortality
• While rapid economic growth in the developing world is essential in providing the necessary resources for poverty reduction, economic growth can also place pressure on natural systems.
• Australia is trying to reduce deforestation and forest degradation is potentially a highly cost–effective way of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Goal Five – Improve maternal health
• Australia is trying to reduce the problem by three-quarters, between 1990- 2015.
• Access to clean water and effective sanitation has a catalytic effect on many aspects of human development, being essential for a healthy population and environmental sustainability.
• The Australian Government recognises the importance that improving water and sanitation can have on the health and livelihoods of people living in poverty.

Goal Six – Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
• The Australian Government is investing in health for developing countries as it is a high priority.
• The money will fund our supporting governments deliver health services and improve their own public health system.

• Achieving environmental sustainability is a key theme of the Australian aid program.
