The Mission to Seafarers

Prayer Diary 2019“I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”

Matthew 25: 31-46

Prayers

God of Peace

We pray for seafarers, particularly those who are experiencing loneliness, trauma, stress or other difficulties. We remember the families of seafarers who are unable to be together and we remember before you the work of our family projects in the Philippines and in the Ukraine.

We bring before you all those people who have lost family members at sea through accident, through war and civil unrest, through piracy and acts of violence. We pray for peace in our ports, for the safety of all those who work in ports throughout the world and for harmonious working relationships.

God of Justice

We pray for all those people and institutions working for justice in the Maritime sector. In particular we pray for the work of the International Maritime Organisation, ITF Seafarers, ISWAN and others. We remember all the maritime welfare organisations that work in partnership with us. Strengthen our purpose and our endeavours. Give us clarity, vision and a deep sense of servant leadership in all we do.

God of Love

We thank you for the opportunities you give us to show your love to the people around us. We remember all those seafarers suffering with ill health. We pray for those who have been injured and for those who are away from the love of their families. Help us to show warmth, compassion, love and hospitality through our ship visiting and through our Flying Angel centres.

Note: The most up to date version of this Prayer Diary can be found on the Mission to Seafarers web site. Click on “News”, and then on “Publications” on the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Our Prayer Diary” and click on the year indicator.
