Reflections on the Derwent
Reflections is our main function room and can accommodate up to 100 guests
for formal dining, 70 guests seated for a wedding and up to 150 guests for a
cocktail style event with personalised options available for all. The function
facilities showcase spectacular views over the Marina and River Derwent,
encompassing views of the Tasman Bridge and Mount Wellington, two of
Hobart’s prominent scenic icons.
Located in the quiet bay of Lindisfarne, the MYCT offers ample parking, the
option to arrive by our historic vessel M.L Egeria and the ability to work with our
specialised events team to make your event as unique and individual as you
are.
Within this Event Compendium you will find the menus and packages that we
have to offer, however please do not feel restricted to this. Everyone is
different and your event should be too. We offer meetings with our chefs to
discuss personalised menus, tailor packages and offer individualised quotes.

Stand Up Events Whether you are having a stand up wedding, birthday party, family celebration or

As the menu items do not include room hire, unless being used in conjunction with a

Optional Extras & our Room The Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania’s Reflections room overlooks our modern marina,
with views of the Derwent River, Tasman Bridge and Hobart City. At night time these
views are enhanced with the lights from the Casino, greater Hobart and of course the
Tasman Bridge making for some spectacular photo opportunities.
For your special event the room can be laid out just the way you wish depending on
the number of guests. To further enhance the rooms presentation and to suit the type
of event you are having, we offer some extras:

We can personally tailor centerpieces to suit your theme, please feel free to discuss
this option with our Functions Manager. If you would like to decorate the room
yourself, we allow decoration from early morning on the day of your event. Please
discuss this with us so we can ensure everything is made and ready for you.
The M.L. Egeria Arrive in style on board our historic vessel, the M.L. Egeria. Built from Huon Pine and
Teak at Purdon & Featherstone’s shipyards on Battery Point in 1941, the 18.9 meter
“Egeria” served as a Naval Auxiliary Launch during World War 2.
The Egeria has carried many distinguished guests from visiting Royalty to Tasmanian
Governors. The vessel holds 26 passengers comfortably and if used in conjunction
with one of the above catering packages the charter price is reduced. For weddings it
can work out cheaper than car hire!
The Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania Policy & Procedures
Prices are based on a number of factors, and are subject to change if there are alterations to the events
requirements. We aim to ensure that the menu is supplied in full as per quotation. However, if due to market
changes a product is unavailable we will substitute it with an appropriate alternative.
Bookings & Payment Policy
We welcome tentative bookings for functions during the early stages of planning. Tentative bookings can be
held for up to 14 days before requiring confirmation or cancellation.
To confirm your function or event, we require our booking form completed and returned to us with a deposit
of $750.00. If required, the deposit can be paid off over an arranged period of time.
Confirmation of catering details and final guest numbers will need to be advised in writing, a minimum of 14
days before the function. This will be the minimum number of guests charged. Full payment is required a
minimum of 14 days prior to the date of the event, along with final numbers and confirmed details. Payment
can be made using Visa, MasterCard, Cheque or EFT.
If your function includes a dry till service, we require payment at the conclusion of the function.
All prices listed correct at the time of publication. The Motor Yacht Club reserves the right to alter pricing at
any time and recommends this document be used as a guide only.
Membership
To comply with Liquor and Gaming Licensing laws, it is a requirement that hirers of the function room must be
a member of the MYCT. Social Membership is a maximum charge of $70.00, which will entitle you to ongoing
use of our facilities.
Cancellation Policy
For functions over 40 guests we require written notice of the cancellation. The following fees will be incurred
for all functions, regardless.
Within 8 months prior to event Deposit kept
Within 1 month of the event 50% of expected event invoice
Within 2 weeks of the event 100% of expected event invoice
Beverages
For evening functions, last drinks will be served at 11:45pm. Patrons are required to vacate the premises by
12:00am. Penalty rates may apply if the function exceeds these service hours.
Alcohol which has been purchased elsewhere is not permitted on The Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania’s
licensed premises.
You may choose to operate on a “dry till” basis for your function or ask guests to purchase their own drinks at
the bar. If the “dry till” budget is reached, you will be asked if you would like to increase the tab.
The Club stocks a large range of wines and spirits. With adequate notice we can arrange to have any specific
wines you may require for your function.
Responsible Service of Alcohol House Policy
This is a controlled, safe and secure environment, which observes the principles of the Responsible Service of
Alcohol Program. We stock a range of low alcohol and non-alcoholic products.
We will not serve liquor or allow the provision of liquor to any person under the age of 18 years. (Proof of age
may be asked of you or your guests if we feel it necessary for serving of alcohol)
We will not admit, serve, supply or allow the supply of alcohol to anyone who appears intoxicated.
In booking these premises for a function you are responsible and liable for the cost of any damages caused
by you or your guests while on these premises.
Please consider our neighbors and leave the premises quietly.
Failure to observe these principles may lead to refusal of service and a request to leave the property with
assistance of the Police.
Failure to leave licensed premises when requested to do so may incur a $1000 fine.

Smoking
Smoking is allowed in the designated smoking areas only. Guests attending private functions must comply
with Health Regulations, Club Rules and By Laws.

FUNCTION MEMBERSHIP FORM 2019/20 Instructions
To comply with Liquor and Gaming Licensing laws, it is a requirement that hirers of our function facility must be a
Social Member (or above). This form must be submitted within the financial year of the event booking. This nomination
form will be valid for one (1) financial year. Further years of membership will be available at the conclusion of the
subscribed financial year with written notice to the General Manager.
Election Procedures
Rule 7 states; Nomination forms with prescribed entrance fee must be submitted to the Office or General Manager prior
to the monthly Board Meeting.
