COLLEGE RECRUITING INFORMATION
With the 2003, 2002, 2001 NY Elite FC players participating in college showcase tournaments and planning for college soccer, it’s important to have adequate information to help you make the right
decisions. Official National College Athletic Association (NCAA) information is located at
www.ncaa.org. Your NY Elite FC coaches are also a good source of information to help plan your future soccer career and answer any questions you might have. Preparation should begin in the
freshmen year and include:
• Creation of a Soccer Profile to document your experience and achievements
• Compiling a video clip containing key plays to highlight your skills (no longer than 5 minutes) • Contacting College Coaches at schools where you are interested in attending and playing in
their program, and notifying them when/where they can see you play • Participate in College Showcase Tournaments with your team
• Attending College ID Camps and Showcase Weekends to play in front coaches who may not be
able to see you at tournaments • Visiting local area colleges while traveling for showcase tournaments
NY Elite FC holds an annual College Soccer Information Night, usually during the winter, to provide an overview of the process so players can get ready for the following year’s recruiting activities. Our
February 2018 event was well-attended by more than 30 players and their families as Adam Clinton (DIII RPI Mens Head Coach) and Steve Karbowski (DI Siena College Women’s Head Coach) provided
details on the college recruiting process and answered questions. Watch for future dates in early
2020.

BOYS TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2002 TEAM - Coach: Adam Clinton The 2002 Team had a fantastic showing this past year
with rankings as follows in Got Soccer:
#90–Nationally, #45–in Region 1, #6–New York East
Their 2019 spring record (W-D-L) was 10-5-2, scoring
38 goals (2.23 goals per game) and conceding only 13 (.78 goals against per game). Since March, they have
only lost two games.
They had a very strong NPL season, finishing second in
their division with a record of 6-1-1. This qualified them to compete in the season end ENPL Tournament, where
they won the Quarter Final Game vs Valencia CF Academy 6-0, but then lost in the Semi-Final to
Quickstrike 0-1. They finished their NPL season in 4th
place following a loss to the NY Hota Bavarians 1-3.
Other spring 2019 tournaments included:
Jefferson Cup, March 29-31, 2019 Tied all three games:
vs NJ Stallions Academy – 1-1
vs Alexandria SA 02 – 0-0 vs GPS MA Elite White – 1-1
Potomac Cup, May 25-27, 2019

Page 7
2004 TEAM - Coach: Paco Roca
The 2004 boys team had a very busy and successful 2018-2019 season. The team entered 3 different leagues (NPL, EDP and CDYSL). NY Elite won both the EDP and the CDYSL league (U16 division 1) and missed the NPL playoffs by one point. The team played 28 league games and lost only 3. The team was also very competitive at the different tournaments they entered reaching the finals at the Needham Memorial tournament, the semifinals at the EDP tournament in Tuckahoe Farms in NJ and winning the Quickstrike tournament in February 2019. A large number of NY Elite 04 players are now playing Varsity or JV at their respective schools, most of them as Freshmen or younger. The NY Elite 2004 Boys team travelled to the 43rd Needham Memorial Day Tournament in MA to participate in the Boys U15 Bunker Hill division competing with teams from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Canada. The team faced strong competition from the start as they played the number 1 team from CT, Beachside. Despite going down early in the game 1-0 the NY Elite 2004 boys were able to tie the game late in the first half and thanks in big part to the saves of both Elite goal tenders (Noah Flint and Jack Putnam) they were able to score late in the game to secure a very big victory. The tables were turned in the second game where despite going ahead 1-0 vs. Lower Merion SC Ambush, the very good team from Pennsylvania, who tied the match in the second half and won with less than five minutes remaining. This result set a "winner takes all" game between the Aztecs (#3 team in MA) and the Elite boys with the winner playing in the final. The Aztecs scored in the first play of the game but the Elite boys showed a lot of composure and played some of the best soccer of the season. They tied in the first half and Joey Radovic scored an amazing goal to lead the Elite boys to the Final. NY Elite faced Lower Merion SC again in the Monday final and despite controlling possession for most of the game, they were unable to score in a very well organized defense and two counterattacks which resulted in goals that gave the trophy to the Pennsylvania team. Congratulations to the boys on a great showing in one of the premier tournaments of the area.

NPL Player Development Program (PDP) Participants US Club Soccer's Player Development Programs (PDPs) are regionally based identification and developmental programs conducted within the id2 Program umbrella. PDPs are focused around the
Premier Leagues (NPL) and other top leagues in specific geographic areas.
PDP invitations are based upon objective scouting of elite clubs and leagues, combined with
recommendations from top Directors of Coaching. id2 Program staff are on-site at PDP events to scout players for potential inclusion in id2 Training Camps, and U.S. Soccer staff may also be on-site to scout
players for potential U.S. National Team inclusion as well as conduct off-the-field lectures, seminars, coaching and other related discussions.
NY Elite FC selected PDP participants this past season included:
2004 Joey DiPreta 2007 Ahmed Ikeljic 2004 Noah Flint 2007 Noah Gonzalez 2004 Jack Putnam 2004 Joe Radovic
Congratulations to Declan Bain (2007), Mark Makhatadze (2005) and Ben Halek (2005) on
their successful spring tournament weekend with the ENY ODP teams. The 2007 went 3-0 and the
2005 won their group. Great job boys!

The PDP National Center of Excellence (NCE) program was founded by technical director John Curtis (former professional English soccer
player), and holds tryouts at venues in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut where selected players form a team for each age group
to compete in international youth tournaments throughout Europe.
Ahmed Ikeljic (2007) was part of the select squad last year and travelled to England for two weeks where they played against
various European teams, including Manchester United Academy.
This year Ahmed and Noah Gonzalez (2007) were selected to go to Italy, where they played in the Inter Milano Football Festival. In
addition to competitions, they also toured Venice, Verona and Milan. In England they visited London and Manchester. This was quite a
memorable experience for those who are selected to participate.
