Taylor Okay, girls, line up! It’s time to start your tryout. Now, as you may know, our good friend Amanda was injured during the tragic Winter Formal Snowball incident. That means we need a midseason replacement... Which is where you all come in. It’s time to show us your moves, girls... Whoever we like best becomes the newest member of the cheerleading team!

Anyway, we have an announcement to make. After much deliberation, we’ve decided... That we need more time to decide! Most of you were clearly unqualified to be cheerleaders... But Zoe and Sam are both excellent candidates! The rest of you can go.

Taylor Okay, then... Here’s how this works. You’ll have the next week to practice your moves so you can wow us at final tryouts this Friday! After we watch you both perform Friday evening right before the game, we’ll vote on a winner. There are nine cheerleaders on the squad... So whoever gets at least five of the nine votes wins! Every day, you’ll have two chances to hang out with people in school... And a two chances after school! It’s pretty cool being the star player, but it’s not everything. It does take up a lot of time. But hey, if you make the cheerleading squad, I guess I’ll be seeing you every week.Zoe ...Howard Well, maybe we don’t have to wait for you to make the squad. Why don’t you give me a call when you’re free, and we can go get coffee at this great cafe down the street?

As they walk, Howard spots a football lying on the ground. He reaches down and picks it up.

Zoe and Howard go to the little gelato shop down the street and sit outside while they eat.

Zoe (This gelato is delicious, but I can’t stop thinking about how Howard and Linda used to come here! I’ve got to get Howard’s ex out of my head before I say something awkward!) Howard, this is delicious. I’m glad you took me here.Howard You looked like you needed to do something fun. Besides, this is the best dessert in town.

I’m talking about cheerleading, of course. I’m talking about Centerscore High’s newest cheerleader... Zoe! Zoe came into a new school, not knowing anyone...
