United Methodist Men The United Methodist Men have contributed to the scholarship for Mandy Jean to attend the Camp Joy in the summer of 2020. They have also donated to several other mission programs, including John Carney’s mission trip to Uganda.
The next meeting of the Methodist Men is December 15, at 7:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
United Methodist Women NEWS Saturday, November 9, six of us traveled to Chapel Hill for the Stones River District Annual Conference. New district officers were installed, and the upcoming calendar was revealed. However, the most touching part of the day was the memorial service for the UMW members who had left us since last year. Four special ladies were recognized from our church. It was my privilege to light memorial candles for Wilene Sanders Bomar, Nina Gay Segroves, Dot Tune, and Liz Ward. I thought about what these friends had contributed to our organization over the years. We will all have to up our game to cover their loss. I would especially like to encourage women who are not involved in UMW to join us in any way you can. It takes a whole church.
Thank you to all the circles who brought food to our church’s Charge Conference on November 13. The table was full! You outdid yourselves. I bet the District Superintendent hasn’t seen that kind of spread in a while.
I am still catching my breath after another successful Holiday Luncheon also known as the Bazaar. I know many of you are also still recovering, BUT wasn’t it a wonderful day! Past ministers returned to eat the best turkey and dressing around, and the community gathered around our tables for food, conversation, and fun. Most of all it was a week for all of us to come together in fellowship to accomplish a huge goal. As I enjoyed my Thanksgiving lunch around 4 o’clock that afternoon, I remembered all of you who worked so hard to help the UMW as well as all of my UMW members. You are the best, and you are much appreciated.
As we enter this season of advent, I wish all you a blessed Christmas. Holidays are wonderful but can be a sad time too. May we all reflect on the best gift of the holiday, the birth of God’s son and the salvation He offers to all of us.
