Perpetual Eucharistic

Adoration in Old St. Mary’s!

Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament awaits your visit!

We are looking for an adorer for 1 am Monday (Sun. night). Can you help? If you would like to try this or a different hour, please contact Ivy Monahon at [email protected] or 803.649.4157. If you would like to try a weekly holy hour of adoration, please see the most current list of hours in need of adorers on the parish website,

http://www.stmarys-aiken.org/

Please use the side (ramp) entrance and wear a face covering when entering and leaving.

Practice social distancing.

Use the provided cleaning supplies to wipe down your area before and after your hour. Observe silence at all times. Adoration fosters personal intimacy with Our Lord—please allow others this special time with Jesus.

May our prayers bring peace and healing to our nation!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

To all of our dear friends who keep up with Holy Mass virtually/on-line, please know how much we miss you! Personally, I never realized until now the tremendous value of something so small as a simple handshake and “Hello!” at the door of the church after Mass. We are doing our very best to keep our parishioners at home connected until we can all safely be together again. Help us keep you connected!

For our beloved friends who attend Mass on-site, thank you for wearing a face-covering. The guidelines we follow were not created in a vacuum, but with the consultation of healthcare professionals, the CDC, the City of Aiken, and our Bishop. Please remember to keep your covering/mask on throughout the entire Mass, and make sure it covers both your nose and your mouth. We are a pro-life people, and none of us desires to make anyone seriously ill unnecessarily. If we can do something so small as to wear a face covering for a short period of time, then it is worth it. If this is impossible for you, please recall that at present there is no obligation to attend Mass in person.

It might help to recall that, for decades doctors and nurses doing surgery and some other procedures all wear masks (sometimes for hours), and they are not adversely affected. The protection and safety of all life is of the utmost importance. Your life, your fellow parishioners’ lives, and the lives of your priests and deacons must be protected. For some this is a huge burden. To others, it’s annoying. I get this. However, we are disciples of Jesus Christ first, and we must do all that we can to help stop the spread of this serious and deadly virus and to protect people’s lives. Compared to Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross, this is a very small burden. The precautions we ask you to do lovingly are out of charity for the sake of others around you. Children under the age of five and certain others with special needs (i.e., those with certain physical, emotional, behavioral, or learning disabilities or impairments) are the only ones not required. Otherwise, please do not attend Mass in person if you cannot wear a mask the entire time.

A couple of permanent changes to the Mass schedule: On Wednesdays, the 5:30pm Mass is discontinued. Mass is available at 8:30am (8:20am when school is in session), and again in Spanish at 7:00pm. Also, we are discontinuing the first Friday Latin Mass at 2:00pm. Thank you for your understanding.

One final note: Monday the 10th of August marks my 9th anniversary here at St. Mary’s, and June 9th marked nineteen years as a priest. I have spent most of my priestly life here at St. Mary’s. I can’t tell you how blessed I am to be part of this parish family, even in times like this. Thank you for your prayers and support of my ministry here as you pastor. Again, what an honor it is.

Yours in Our Lord and Our Lady Help of Christians, Father Wilson

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Holy Mass Intentions

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. Amen.

Altar Flower Donations

Donating altar flowers is a simple, lovely way to honor a loved one, glorify God, and add beauty to the altar. Flowers can be donated in honor of a living person, memory of someone who has died, in celebration of an anniversary or other milestone, or in thanksgiving for friends or family. You can choose any Sunday or have an open Sunday chosen for you. The names of those being honored or remembered will appear in the bulletin on the Sunday you select. If you prefer, you can simply give the flowers to the Glory of God. The suggested donation is $250 for two arrangements. To donate, please call Janet Morris at the parish office at 803.649.4777.

Face Masks Required

We are respectfully requiring that everyone attending Holy Mass wear a face covering or mask during the celebration of Mass, except for the act of receiving Holy Communion. The covering must cover both your mouth and nose. If you do not have a face mask with you, free, sterile masks are available at the front door.

The City of Aiken passed an ordinance on July 13th to require face coverings in enclosed public spaces in order to help stem the increasing spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. Bishop Guglielmone has asked that parishes in the diocese conform to local government ordinances.

Thank you for doing your part to ensure the safety of all.
