As the world’s first child protection agency, The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children responds to the complex needs of abused and neglected children and those involved in their care, by providing best practice counseling, legal and educational services. Through research, communications, and training initiatives, we work to expand these programs to prevent abuse and help more children heal. The NYSPCC’s Mission Launched in 2005, The Junior Committee is a dynamic group of young professionals passionate about protecting children and furthering the lifesaving mission of The NYSPCC. The Committee supports the agency by serving as ambassadors, cultivating prospective volunteers and donors, and fundraising. OfficersPresident: The President sits on The NYSPCC’s Board of Directors; S/he leads the committee in the planning and execution of an annual Junior Committee fundraising event, as well as, additional smaller fundraising/awareness events; S/he approves the meeting dates, budgets, agendas, and minutes.

Vice President(s): The Vice President assists in the planning of the Junior Committee events, and leads meetings and speaking engagements in the absence of the President.

Treasurer: The Treasurer generates financial reports for each committee meeting and offers overall budgeting assistance.

Secretary: The Secretary takes minutes at the meetings and works with The NYSPCC Development Staff to circulate them to the committee - post approval of the President.

• At the first meeting of the calendar year, the President asks the meeting attendees to fill vacant officer positions.

• The Secretary submits nominations to The NYSPCC Development Staff by the given response date, up to two weeks after the meeting.

• Voting by the Junior Committee is done via email and closes one week after the submission response date. The NYSPCC notifies the President of the newly elected officers.

• The new officers are elected and approved at The NYSPCC Board of Directors meeting in February.

• Grow Junior Committee Outreach / Members• Generate $35,000 or more annually to support The NYSPCC’s services for children• Host the annual Junior Committee fundraiser• Increase member engagement through smaller events and regular communications: • Athletic events: yoga, spin, etc. • Happy Hours • Volunteer opportunities • In-store shopping events • Incorporate Crowdrising platforms • Enhance social media presence
