Dear Friends,

Did you know that this past April 18th marked the 124th Anniversary of our Church? Amazing to think about really!

April 18th, 1895 is a long time ago and of course a lot has changed since then; the building, the people, the community, and the ways we present the Gospel.

And while so much has changed, one constant has remained – OUR FOUNDATION; our rock solid foundation in Christ Jesus!

Thanks be to God for our heritage! And thanks be to God for our Jesus– our Rock Solid foundation who never changes, but who has sustained us in the past, who blesses us in the present, and who remains with us as he leads us into the future!

Since we are beginning our 125th year I would like to start thinking about ways we might celebrate and welcome in this HUGE milestone in the life of our church. It is a great reason for celebration!!

But, I cant do it alone! I need some help!!! So……..I am looking for a few people who might be interested in being a part of a “125th Anniversary Celebration team.” if you are interested in being a part of this team, please let me know!!! I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks– Pastor Galen

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with

whatever gift each of you has received. 1 Peter 4:10

Thank you to all who donated to our April Stewardship serving supporting Summit Life Outreach Center in Niagara Falls. This is a Christian based, non-profit, organization that offers free ultrasounds under the direction & supervision of a licensed medical doctor and volunteer medical staff to pregnant women. They also offer infant classes, pregnancy tests, adoption option counseling, baby supplies and referrals. At their center they have available baby clothes, diapers and baby equipment available through a pro-gram where the mother attends infant classes in order to receive baby items at no cost. A special thanks goes out to Kim & Makenzie Castiglione who made out “Tree of Life” in the Narthex! For those interested, there is a very good movie entitled “Unplanned” which is a very good Christian move dealing with the issue of choosing life. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he creat-

ed them.” Genesis 1:27

Respectfully, Laura Tirone

Mission & Ministry

Each month we highlight a specific mission and ministry of St. John’s. These groups will be prayed for in the prayers of the church throughout the Sundays of that month.

Samaritan Pastoral Counseling Center … The Samaritan Pastoral Counseling Center provides pro-fessional counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples, children and families in a spiritual, faith-oriented context. In addition, the center provides consultation, training, workshops and educational programs for physicians, clergy, congregations and groups. The Samaritan Pastoral Counseling Center, as part of God’s Church, is a healing ministry which works toward wholeness in the spiritual, relational, emotional, mental and physical dimensions of lives through pastoral counseling, education and consul-tation. Family Ministry Evangelism begins in the family. Parents are the primary faith mentors for their children and all of the gen-erations of the congregation have a role in helping parents lead their children to be disciples. Family Ministry is organized into four sub-groups: Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Adult Ministry and Family of Faith. Children’s Ministry is pri-marily for families with children aged 1—10 and includes Nursery Ministry as well as “Young Hearts” events throughout the year such as Breakfast with St. Nick, Easter Egg Hunt, etc. Youth Ministry is focused on reaching our youth in grades 4 through 12 by meeting with them on a reg-ular basis to share their faith and plan group outings & activities. Adult Ministry includes the Men’s Group and Café. Family of Faith focuses on Manna (food activities) and Relaxing in the Son (fellowship activities). Annual activities offered by the Family of Faith group include the Taste of St. John’s, Chili Cook-Off, Spaghetti Dinner, Dinner & a Movie and Summer Picnic.
