“The Pantiles became a staple of both Stuart and Georgian life – it was the place to see and be seen for both royalty and the gentry. Visitors were drawn to the elegant architecture and the beautiful commons which formed the backdrop to what was a truly aspirational shopping parade.

The famous colonnaded walkway is home to a range of national and independent fashion retailers, specialist boutiques, homewares and lifestyle brands and restaurant and pavement café operators.

Royal Tunbridge Wells has excellent rail and road links and there is a well established bus network operating across the town and out to the neighbouring villages.

Royal Tunbridge Wells is the perfect blend of town and country, and the long-standing home of affluent consumers.

Rail:Southeastern operates the mainline rail service from London Charing Cross to Royal Tunbridge Wells – the journey time is approximately 50 minutes; The Pantiles is less than ten minutes stroll from the station. Tonbridge station is less than ten minutes train ride away, offers local routes east towards Ashford International and west towards Redhill.

Road:Royal Tunbridge Wells is just 25 minutes from the M25 via the A21 and A26. Local travellers are spoilt for choice for routes into the spa town, with A-roads converging from East Grinstead, Maidstone and The Sussex coast.

Bus:The 281 town centre bus route runs from High Brooms to Rusthall. The middle stretch of the route, within the town centre zone, is known as the shopper hopper – a regular, Special-priced service that links The Pantiles to the top of town. In addition to this local service, there are over 70 bus and coach routes wining their way all over Kent and Sussex – which makes it easy for visitors to get to Royal Tunbridge Wells and The Pantiles.

Proposed Developments

Planning permission has been granted for the Art-house cinema chain Curzon to open a new cinema with three auditoriums situated within the listed Corn Exchange building.

Access will be off Linden Park Road, Sussex Mews, and the Lower Walk of The Pantiles.

Planning has been granted for a new high quality residential development with over 100 new homes at Union House, comprising of studio apartments and 1 and 2 bed homes.

This will anchor the Western end of The Pantiles, bringing more shoppers through the development.
