EDITOR'S PICK, 11 HSTUDIO NOTES
Hello my crafty friends!
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving
Day with the family and you got all your Black Friday items. I sure
did! Right now I'm knee deep in CHA planning and even though
it's a lot of work… it's SO MUCH FUN! It's hard to believe that the
year is over and that CHA Winter is here. Most companies are
rushing around, getting the finishing touches on collections and
planning out their booths. We have so many beautiful collections
and I'm 100% sure you will love everyone of them.
To give you a little sneak if their names they are: Pure Bliss, Family
Jeans, Charleston, Indian Summer, Nostalgia, Fun and Funky,
Natural Beauty, Special Delivery, and Sunkissed. These collections
can be used for any theme and season. It's a stellar batch of
papers, filled with lovely pattern and florals!
Before you flip through this months issue, get a hot cup of cocoa
and enjoy the fresh and fun ideas. I always tell my family my
magazine time is a small break from the day. So again, enjoy this
small break and have your self a merry little Christmas.

The amazing thing about this months photo inspiration is that it has warm and cool color tones combined together. It's the perfect feel for cozy sweaters on a winter's walk. Leslie, captured the feel of this photo with perfection. The beautiful large oak tree is a lovely contrasts to the blue and red.

WINTER & HOLIDAYCRAFT TUTORIALS
WinterWonderful
CHRISTMAS TREEby Audrey Yeager
1. Cut two circles of each size, starting with 7" as the largest, and going down to 1.5", in half inch increments. This will give you 12 different sized circles for your tree.
2. With wrong sides together, stitch around the circle, but leave about a 1.5" opening. Fill each circle with Poly Fill batting. (To give some weight to the base of your tree, you could fill the largest base circle with some dried rice or beans.)
3. Once all the circles have been stuffed, stitch the openings closed.
4. At this point, you can stack your circles. There are different ways to do this. You could run a string through all of the circles right up the center, starting at the bottom, and then leave some threads at the top so that you can hang your tree. You could also use a wooden bamboo skewer or dowel and pierce through the holes to provide some more stability. Or you could do what I did and just use glue dots to attach one circle to the next.
SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Bonjour: Bouquet (1535), Les Fleurs
(1538), Paris Je T'Aime (1541); Sweet Tooth: Sour Cherry (1560), Sprinkles
(1560). Other: thread, sewing machine, poly fill batting.

I am a sucker for Christmas decor in non-traditional Christmas colors. I was all over it when lime green and hot pink were trending for Christmas last year. I thought I would make a fun piece of mantle or wall decor using some bright, non traditional colors and patterns.
1. Die cut stocking pieces and assemble.
2. Embellish each stocking with a variety of buttons, rhinestones, ribbon, etc.
3. Hang stockings from twine using miniature clothespins.
It would be easy to use this garland as an advent calendar or a 12 Days of Christmas countdown.
SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Flower Child: Flowery (1641), Flower Child (1640),
Groovy (1642), Hippie Plaid (1643), Wondering Geo (1638), Striking Stripe (1647), Organic
Geo (1645), Flower Child Plaid (1639), Peacock (1646), Layered Geo (1644).

LIGHT GARLANDby Audrey Yeager
1. Cut out the circle and star svg file using an electronic die cutting machine. (Visit the blog on December 22 for the free file). If you don't have a die-cutting machine, cut a 5" circle and use a punch to punch out some shapes.
2. Mist the inside of each circle with a green mist and paint the outside white. While the white paint is still wet, apply some glitter or mica snow. Let dry.
3. Once the paint is dry, cut each circle in half. Fold each half into a cone shape around each light on the strand. Use double sided tape on one of the edges to secure the cone shape.
4. Cut 7-8" strips of ribbon and tie each piece in a single knot between each light on the strand. I used 6 pieces in between each light, but this will vary depending on the thickness of your ribbon.
5. Hang and enjoy!
SUPPLIES: Cardstock, decorative punch, mist, white craft paint, glitter,
double sided tape, ribbon, light strand.

HO! HO! HO!
We hope you've been good
all year because Santa is in
town! To celebrate his coming
in a "fun and fresh" way, we
switched up our color pallet
for the cover of Dec. Instead
of doing red and green (which
has been done time and time
again), we used tan, green,
YELLOW and blue. Oh and a
pop of silver!
These hand crafted stockings
and little tags are perfect for
any home holiday decor. It's a
must try this season. Be playful
with the tags and personalize
them as we did for the cover
and your family will just adore
them. We paid attention to
the smallest detail, being that
the smallest detail are always
important! Just check out the
flowers and stars. Aren't they
so fun?!

Alter It.
I love having a family tradition of picking out a Christmas tree together. This year we went to a huge tree farm with rows and rows of trees. The kids were running and hiding from our dog Max. Great memories!
The fun arrows included in this sketch was something I wanted to incorporate so I made both of mine from pattern paper. One of them I stamped on and then cut out. The second one, I used a die template to get the perfect angle, traced it and then cut it out.
Flip It.
In place of the top "arrow", I created a layered Christmas tree, with paper layers lifted up with pop dots. I also fussy cut and circle punched holly, and added glossy accents to make it shine. I also carried the triangles theme into the lower "arrow".

Keep It.
For my layout, I followed the sketch pretty closely by keeping the 3 photos the same size and same placement as the sketch, and the page title is still at the top on the right. I took the idea of the photo corners as shown on the top and bottom photos of the sketch, and used a photo corner punch to make my own arrow design.

Happy New Year Card by Nina Yang
Hello Everyone! I cannot believe that we are at the end of 2012! I had so much fun making this card. The good thing about this card is that it still lays flat if you want to mail it. Love that the cool banner is a design on the paper. I had a great crafty year with GCD Studios and I wish everyone a happy 2013!

Drink Charms by Tegan Skwiat
I have always loved the little drink charms you see in the stores during the holidays, so I decided to make my own! They will look super cute on those fancy glasses of sparkling grape juice and can also be hung on the top of a bottled water or pop. I am surely going to make extra sets in case I get invited to any last minute holiday parties - they will make great hostess gifts!
