11: 00 am Mass For the Parishioners of St. Mark’s Parish

We hope to see everyone at St. Mark’s upcoming Parish General Assembly (AGM) Tuesday May 23, at 7:00 PM

Our Parish General Assembly (AGM) is an opportunity for us to come together as a parish community to review and reflect on our life in community. At this assembly we receive reports from the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), and Fabrique, which outline our pastoral initiatives as well as financial matters. The Assembly is also an

opportunity to look to the future, to reflect together on where God is calling us as a community at this time. Your insights, questions, and

suggestions are needed and most welcome. Please give priority to this meeting and plan to attend this year’s Parish General Assembly (AGM)

on Tuesday, May 23 at 7:00 PM.

Baptism Preparation – last preparation session before the fall about to begin!

The preparation for Baptism includes sessions on two consecutive Tuesday evenings. The next session begins on June 13, with the Baptisms to be celebrated on June 24 or June 25. This is the last preparation session before the fall, so please share this information with friends and family members who might want to join us in these sessions. A special thanks to the team who is involved in baptism preparation at St. Mark’s – Linda Curnock, who receives the inquiries; Lois Mulvihill and Eileen Hoggan visit the families in their homes, lead the sessions, and coordinate the celebration; and also Carol Ann Bowers who does up the name cards and certificates in calligraphy. Your generosity in sharing your faith, time and talents is a true blessing to our parish community! Thank you!

Workshop/Retreat: Medically Assisted Suicide On June 17, 2016, the Government of Canada passed into law Bill C-14, approving medically assisted dying. The Catholic Church affirms and believes that the deliberate taking of a human life goes against the dignity of the human person and the belief that all human life is sacred. But why does the Catholic Church take this position? How can the Church’s position be explained in a simple and straightforward way? What response does the Church provide for those contemplating – either for themselves or for a loved one – medically assisted death? This workshop is for anyone, Catholic or not, who is seeking deeper answers to the issue of medically assisted suicide, which is now part of the fabric of Canadian life and Canadian health-care services. Whether you are a pastoral worker, parish volunteer, health-care professional, teacher, or are simply wondering what medically assisted dying means for yourself from a Christian faith-based perspective, this workshop/retreat is for you. July 7th (7 p.m.) – July 9th (1 p.m.) 2017 at the Galilee Mission Centre, Arnprior, ON. Presented by: Father David B. Perrin, Ph.D. For more information please contact Galilee Mission Centre at (613) 623-4242 or by email at [email protected]

A warm welcome to visitors and to new parishioners! Welcome to those who want to make their “faith-home” here with us. You may be new to Aylmer, or you may have been ‘away for a while’. Be assured that we love to have you among us! We hope that you will join us throughout this Easter season, as we continue to celebrate with joy the resurrection of our Lord! You are invited to join us for refreshments after Mass on the first and third Sundays of the month – a good opportunity to meet others in our parish community. Your children are welcome to participate in the children’s liturgies during the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses on Sunday mornings – a time when they join with other children to hear the Word of God in a way which they can understand. We would appreciate it if you introduced yourself to one of our hospitality ministers, or to Father John. It would also help if you could take the time to fill out a registration form, which you can get from a hospitality minister. The next time you are with us, you can drop off the registration form in the collection basket or give it to one of the hospitality ministers. Once again, welcome! Financial update from the Fabrique

We have changed how we provide information on the collection in order to provide parishioners with more useful information on our financial situation at St. Mark’s. From now on, we will provide a comparison of income and expenses every month. We hope that this format will be useful to you, and we thank you for your generosity!
