DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
O n February 22, 1931, Our Lord and Savior Jesus appeared to a simple nun in a convent of
the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Cracow, Poland. At St. Faustina
Kowalska’s canonization in the year 2000, the late Pope John Paul II declared the Feast of the Di-
vine Mercy to be celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Our Lord told St. Faustina: “It
is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. I desire that the Feast
of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the
very depths of My tender Mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls
who approach the fountain of My Mercy.”
Please join us in celebration of Mercy Sunday.
We will celebrate this special feast with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at
3:00 PM in the Church.
You are encouraged to participate fully in this celebration by receiving the Sacrament of
Reconciliation and receiving Holy Communion on the day of the feast. To participate fully, we
must also be merciful to others through our actions, words, and prayers on their behalf.
If you have been away from the Sacrament of Penance for a long time, come and
experience the peace and joy of God’s Mercy.
Jesus, I Trust in You -- St John Paul designated the
Sunday after Easter - Devine Mercy Sunday. Gain deeper insight into the mission to share the message of Devine Mercy with the whole world.
Read Vinny Flynn's book, 7 Secrets of Devine Mercy .
Be prepared to be truly amazed by Fr. Michael Gaitley as he narrates
the dramatic history of God’s love and mercy as interwoven through the
transformative message of St. Faustina, the miraculous appearance of
Mary at Fatima, the witness of Maximilian Kolbe, and the
world-changing papacy of Pope St. John Paul II in the Program,
"Devine Mercy in the Second Greatest Story Ever Told."
Pope Francis has inspired millions by urging us to embrace mercy.
Narrated by Jim Caviezel, the movie, The Face of Mercy , is an
extraordinary new film on this powerful message that brings hope,
healing, and forgiveness to a broken world.

Sharing the Gospel
Jesus gave the power to forgive sins through his
apostles. Today the priests are his apostles. They
remind us of how God forgives our sins. You have
the power to forgive those who hurt you. It is your
choice to forgive as Jesus has forgiven you. It is healthy
for you to forgive. Anger makes your body tense and
your muscles ache. When you forgive others, God sends
his love to fill your body and soul with peace.
Prayer
Lord, help me forgive those who hurt me.
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were
locked, where the disciples were, Jesus came and stood in their
midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he said this,
he showed them his hands and his side.
Larry Post from Liturgical Publications, our bulletin printer, will be in our rectory office April 24– April 28, securing new ads for our bulletin. We need your help!
