October marks the return of our fundraiser, Kid’s Kreations! This exciting program will allow each participating artist to have artwork professionally
processed into a variety of exclusive items. Classroom teachers will work with the students to create personalized artwork. In mid-October you will receive a sheet of sample stickers that display
your child’s work, along directions on how to order unique keepsakes and wonderful gifts for the entire
family! Kids Kreations product samples are on display in the front lobby and the hallway for
viewing. If you have any questions, please see Alex.
We hope that everyone enjoyed their first month back to school! Thank you to all of our families who
attended our Open House Night. The month of October will bring many more exciting experiences for our infant, toddler, preschool, pre-k, and school
age friends! Please continue to check out your child’s classroom door or to check in with their teacher to stay informed about classroom specific events. On November 4th, we will be holding our annual Fall Family Fun Night! This family-friendly event will give you the opportunity to meet other families
within our Pattycake community! Each classroom will have an autumn themed craft, game, or activity for your family to enjoy! More information will be
handed out mid-October.

!Themes for October: What We Love About Fall, Fire Safety !
Can you believe we are already one month into our school year?” September has been so much fun getting to know our new friends! We would like to thank everyone for going along with our lunchbox policy. Our refrigerator is much more accessible now that it only holds cups and bottles. Well September gave us a quick glimpse of cooler weather, before jumping back up to being hot again, of course. With that, we would like to encourage parents to dress their child in layers when coming to school. Pants, a short-sleeve or long-sleeved shirt/onesie, and a sweater is a good combination for these rooms, especially Infant 1, which gets direct sun all morning. On that note, please bring in extra clothes that are appropriate for the pending colder weather (pants, long-sleeves, etc.). The infant rooms love making cards for babies, and the babies love making cards for others. With that, we are asking families for a list of birthdays of important family members (that includes you, moms and dads!) so the children can create cards. Also, a reminder, please bring in family photos! Happy October birthdays to Zoe, who will be 1 on the 14th and our very own Miss Tara who will be celebrating on the 4th.
Reminders: ~Anything and everything that comes to school with
your child needs to be labeled with first and last name. This includes pacifiers, bottles, bibs, etc.!~Please be sure to signs your child in and out
every day. This ensures proper communication between home and school.
~Please remember to send in crib bedding each week!!Comings and Goings:
As stated earlier, we enjoyed meeting all of our new friends. This October, we will be meeting baby Maxton, who will be joining Infant II, and baby
Serena, who will be in Infant I. On a bittersweet note, our friend, Christian, will complete his transition into the toddler room. He has done such a great job with
this so far, and we will miss him! The changing weather has already brought runny noses back into the classrooms. We would like to
thank Blanca’s family for their generous donation of Lysol wipes! We continue to appreciate donations
soft tissues for tiny noses (and we can never have too many disinfecting wipes!).
We also appreciate the following: ~Coupons for our coupon corner, located between the
infant rooms ~Rewards codes for Huggies and Pampers
DiD yOu KnOw… Heavy coats (or other bulky, warm items) and car seats don’t mix. The reason? The bulkiness compresses in an accident, compromising the tightness of the harness, which leads to an improper install. A light fleece layer is recommended for car seat use, followed by wrapping a blanket around the child AFTER they are strapped in. How to tell when a coat is too bulky? Buckle the child in with the coat and tighten to the pinch test, then without loosening the straps, take the child out of the seat, take the coat off and put the child back in. If there is a gap, the coat is too bulky. This is true for adults, too!
In our infant rooms, we teach and encourage our children to learn sign language. Study after study has shown benefits to teaching babies to sign. Each month, we will show you, the parents, some signs your child has or will be learning.

Hello Everybody! The past few weeks have been fun getting to know your children better! Our toddlers had a blast going over to Promenade this past month, and really enjoyed getting apples from their friends! We did several activities to demonstrate not only working together, but taking turns, which we will continue to work on over the next few months. All of the kids have been doing great! They have been doing a fantastic job bonding and forming relationships with one another, as well as adjusting to our toddler schedule. We are so PROUD of them! For the month of October, we will be discussing our Favorite things about Fall. The color we will be focusing on is orange, and we will be working with the children on recognizing a square. The topics we will be focusing on include apples, pumpkins, leaves, and of course, Halloween! Along with Fire Prevention and Safety! Each of these topics will be discussed in depth, and several fun activities have been planned to help with further exploration and discovery. Some activities we will be doing over the next few weeks are: an apple tasting to see what apples we like best (If you have any concerns about your child participating in the apple tasting please let me or Ms. Toni know!), pumpkin decorating along with "pumpkin picking" and pumpkin goo, and we will also be having our very own Costume Parade and party! Notices will be posted on the toddler door to to help remind of upcoming events and items your child may need. We are thrilled to continue working with your children, and are excited to see what October will bring! We cannot wait to begin the fun activities we have planned for this month, and are looking forward to sharing them with you and your children! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks for all of you support! Ms. Amy and Ms. Toni!

Pattycake Playhouse on 32 This Month:
At Pattycake Plahouse on 32, our preschool class welcomed both new and old faces back for a new school year. Ms Vicky and Ms Samantha were very excited to meet all the new families and see the old faces again. During our first month the preschool students became acquainted with our class, learned about each other, formed friendships, and celebrated birthdays. Two of the boys in preschool Dominic and Justin, celebrated their third birthday. Happy birth-day to both! Many thanks to their families for the cupcakes and fun we all had. This month we had focused on “All About Me” and the children were able to share a little bit about themselves to the class, by bringing in a share item that meant something to them, family pictures, and favorite toys. We also focused on observations to see where all the children are developed so far and what we need to focus on for this school year. We both look forwards to working with each family.

A Note From Miss Brooke: September has been a month of meeting new friends, learning about one
another, and building a caring classroom community. Our theme of All About Me allowed our friends to introduce themselves, talk about their favorite things and their families, and explore each of their 5 senses.
Next month we will be learning all about fall favorites: apples, pumpkins and Halloween! Also, Fire Safety week is October 6-10, so we will be learning about fire prevention and safety – plus our friends will get a visit from Firemen and see a real fire truck on Wednesday, October 8!
Along with Preschool, we are planning a pumpkin-picking event to be held on-site, so I am requesting each family donate 1 pumpkin (child-sized) before the end of the month. We will also be going Trick-or-Treating at Promenade Senior Center, and having a Halloween Party. Details for these events will be coming soon! !
October 8 Happy 4th Birthday Natalie!

Back to School Tips by Emily G. and Isabella P.
Hi! We’re Emily G. and Isabella P. We are in the school-aged program. We go to Heritage Middle School. We’re going to talk about tips for school.
• If you get lost, ask someone where to go. They will definitely help you.
• If you see someone getting bullied, help them out and tell an adult right away.
• Don’t be a bully. Always be a friend. • Do your homework! • Remember—have fun!
Good Luck!
