Performance Booklet This booklet is for children who want to improve at tennis and that are willing to work on their game in their spare time. The exercises will help players at any level but are designed for children who are on the road to full tournament tennis. All the pages can be completed in the garden, on the common, or during training. It should help you discover what your strengths and weaknesses are; make you faster round the court and help you keep track of your results. You can print this booklet in order to put in your times and results.

What you will need To complete this booklet you will need the below items, hopefully they will be easy to find round the house

Results It is really important to keep a track of your results, as sometimes tournaments forget to enter them. Sometimes you may find you have played someone before and it will help you remember what went well and what did not go so well in the match. If you need someone’s membership number you can look it up on the LTA website Date Name BTM No. Event Score

Statistics Ask someone to watch you play a match (Mum, Dad a friend). It will help you learn what your strengths and weaknesses are – it might not be what you think! If you win a point with a stroke put a tick, or if you lose a point put a cross by the shot you lost with, then add them up at the end. Forehand

Shuttle Runs Ask your Mum, Dad, or a friend to put down 3 tennis balls in a line (9 tennis balls in total) Put down a tennis racquet at the start and then one tennis ball 2 meters away, one 5 meters away and one 10 meters away all in a straight line. Picking up one ball at a time, see how long it takes to collect all the balls on your racquet Time 1.

The 2 Ball Drop Ask someone to hold up 2 tennis balls, one in each hand. They then drop one tennis ball (but can’t tell you which one they are going to drop) and you sprint to try and catch it after one bounce. Ski Jumps Find a line, it does not matter what type. See how many times you can jump two footed over the line in 60 seconds. Count every time you cross the line, not every time you land, and see how many you manage in a minute. Attempt 1. Attempt 2. Attempt 3.
