Our Vision 2020 Building Project is going to be worth the investment
Dr. John M. Childers
Pastor
Dr. John M. Childers
Pastor
In the next
few weeks, I
am hopeful
that we will
be breaking
ground on
our Vision
2020
expansion
project which will provide much-
needed space for us to continue
to enlarge and improve our
ministry to South County and
across The Heartland. If you
were with us on September 28
as we walked through the final
plans for construction, you
surely recognized just how
much God has answered our
prayers to help us use His
resources wisely in order to
get the most ’bang for His
bucks’.
The project will increase our
total square footage by more
than 70% with minimum
impact on our overall campus
footprint.
We will dramatically improve
our preschool area as well as
establishing permanent
homes for our student and
children’s ministries. We are
investing in the next
generation!
In addition, we’ll be adding
rooms to house at least 8
new adult Bible Study and
discipleship classes. We
currently need to start at
least 4 classes, but simply do
not have space for them.
And, of course we’ll be setting
aside space for a dedicated
worship center and a kitchen
and fellowship hall.
It’s going to be worth all of
the adjustments which we’ll
be called on to make over the
next few exciting months.
Thanks for your continued
prayers and for your
faithfulness as we move
forward.
In Christ!
John

Pastor to lead 7-week study on
Heaven beginning October 22
Join us on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. beginning October 22
for a study on the topic of Heaven. We will be using the
book Heaven by Randy Alcorn to guide us in our study. This
book has been called the “most comprehensive and
definitive book on Heaven to date.”
The REAL
There are plenty of ideas about Heaven in the world today. This study will compliment a 4-part sermon series by Pastor John
which examines the REAL Heaven as presented in Scripture. The study promises to be both an insightful and exciting look at
this often misunderstood dimension of the Christian faith. Join us as we learn what the Bible has to say about our final
destination—Heaven.
There is no charge for the Wednesday evening class, however optional study guides will be available for $8.
Funtastiks Senior Adult Ministry
Funtastiks to visit the St. Louis Science Center in November and
Powell Hall Symphony in December
The Funtastiks, our Senior Adult Ministry, will be visiting the St. Louis Science Center on Wednesday, November 12 for the
International Sherlock Holmes Exhibit. In addition to this exciting display about the great mystery writer, participants may choose
to view the Omnimax presentation of “D-Day: Normandy 1944” or “Island of Lemurs, Madagascar”. Lunch will be at The Boat
House Restaurant in Forest Park. Look for more information on the Funtastiks Bulletin Board in the hallway outside of the church
office.
Our December outing promises to be a memorable visit to Powell Hall on Saturday, December 20 to hear the St. Louis Symphony
and Holiday Festival Chorus present the Macy’s Holiday Celebration. This St. Louis annual holiday tradition will be a treat for all.
Tickets to the Powell Hall presentation are available at a discounted price of $25 on a first pay first served basis following the
morning worship services in the Central Stairway at church. Make your check payable to South County Baptist Church.

and joined together in love, so that they may have all the riches of
assured understanding, and have the knowledge of God’s mystery –
Christ.”
SCBC is allowed to send 15 messengers. If you are interested in attending the meeting, please contact the church office
at [email protected] or call (314) 843-5558 by October 16 so that your name may be presented in the October 19
business meeting. For information about lodging at the convention, please visit www.mobaptist.org/annualmeeting .
