Geothermal tax credits are back!

The governor recently signed legislation that extends state income tax credits for the installation of geothermal heat pump systems through December 31, 2021. This 25% state tax credit is retroactive to January 1, 2019, so you if you installed a geothermal system recently, you may also be eligible for these big savings.

But that’s not all. Federal tax credits for residential installations are available too. These include:

30% tax credit, retroactive to 2019

26% tax credit in 2020

22% tax credit in 2021

The combination of these credits can help you save more than 50% on your investment. Business owners should also know that there is currently a 10% tax credit for qualifying commercial geothermal installations.
