This is a good time to celebrate your child’s achievements over the past year. One of our goals in the Trustees’ Multi-Year Plan is to “continuously increase student achievement and well-being through a culture and caring and learning.” That includes a culture that emphasizes engagement and positive relationships among all the members of the school community – students, staff members, families and community members. You, as parents/guardians, are our most important partners when it comes to education. The support you have provided to your child throughout this past school year will help to strengthen our schools and make a difference to your child’s learning. I encourage you to continue engaging your child in learning throughout the summer, and to help them to see the connections between what they are learning in school and the world around them. There are so many opportunities to do this over the summer, whether that’s planning a budget with your child, enjoying the natural beauty in York Region, reading a book or visiting local sites. Whatever your plans are this summer, I wish you all a successful end to the school year, and a safe and enjoyable summer. Loralea Carruthers

Eco-team focus this month:

Last month QPS students did an amazing job at performing at the Canada 150 Spring concert, and in their musical rendition of “The Grammy Awards”

Thank you to all of the teachers for helping to prepare the students for these events by encouraging them to take risks, and appreciate the value of performing! A special thank you goes out to Mrs. C and Mrs. Mitchell for inspiring students to tap into their artistic side, acting, singing and dancing and embracing a growth mindset!

In typical Queensville fashion, our families demonstrated immense support of the efforts of our staff and students! Thank you for your contributions to the raffle baskets, and for being so enthusiastic and supportive!

Thank you also to Mrs. Chaggares, Mr. Chaggares and Mr. Mounsteven for helping us get a stage so that the students could perform at QPS!

Healthy Schools Update

We are excited to announce that QPS has been awarded the

“Healthy Schools” designation again this year!

Thank you to Mrs. Jebb and her team of students who have worked so hard to encourage us all to adopt healthy eating habits!

Hotmail and YRDSB Email Communication

Please be advised that over the course of the last several months we have been experiencing some difficulty with mass communications to our community. This affects all “hotmail” addresses, particularly when a mass mailing is involved. For those affected, please provide the office with a new email address so that you will be in receipt of future mail. The York Region District School Board is working on resolving this issue.

This month’s Character Trait: Optimism

We maintain a positive attitude. We look on the brighter side of situations. We are able to see opportunities even in the face of adversity. We have hope for the future.

Dance, Dance Dance!Please Join Us!

Once again this year, we have had the opportunity to welcome Shelby to each one of our classrooms to learn about the elements and performance techniques of movement and dance.

On Tuesday, June 20, at 2:20 pm, our students will be performing their Dances as part of our Celebration Assembly!

Hope to see you there!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

EARLY DISMISSAL 11:50 a.m.

SEE YOU SEPTEMBER 5TH!

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being. On Thursday, June 29, 2017, an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.

As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 29, 2017 only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:50 a.m. Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time. Parents/guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.
