WORKING WITH
REEBONZ
Working in a start-up is like driving on a racetrack! Each day we innovate. Each day
we strive to do better than the previous day.
And being an e-commerce player means keeping at the top of our game.
This makes our work culture fast-paced and very active.
We impart learning by getting young individuals to dive into the depth of work.
We teach through experience and allow them to make mistakes and learn from
them.
WEIMING TOH Intern
Global Marketing Department
I have learnt how to communicate with people from different departments. It might seem like a no-brainer, but when everyone wants to get their part completed, communications tend to become more hostile. It is always important to see getting
work done as the most important priority.
Also, sometimes it is difficult to communicate your ideas to other departments. The best way is always to meet up face to face when you need to
communicate a new idea, as opposed to using online means.
I have also learnt more about the marketing of
luxury products online, with my mind trained to work faster in the area of copywriting.

Corporate Development & Strategic Projects
The exposure to all the various work streams I’ve had the opportunity to be engaged with has broadened my understanding of strategic
projections as well as the e-commerce industry as a whole.
This internship opportunity has truly allowed
me to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace and understand the various
implications of what I have learnt in university. The trust that my boss had placed in me to handle larger responsibilities was a major
catalyst for my growth of both confidence and professional capability.

During my internship the assignments I worked on are familiar with what I studied in school. And I learnt by applying my knowledge into
practice. However, there is big difference between the school projects and actual work. In
school, I only study the examples and cases which guide me to a general picture of how the real things work and the most important part is to understand the problems and to solve them appropriately. At work, the problem is more
complicated and the situation will be changing all the time. And it will not be that straight
forward so I need to learn how to implement the techniques into the different situation. And there may not only be one way to get to the
destination so finding the shortcut and improving the efficiency is also very important.
The internship was definitely a good introduction to the actual work field for me.

Singapore Sales and Marketing Department
As my internship progressed I got more responsibilities and had to know how to prioritise
and find the most efficient way to complete all these on time and quickly. Efficiency was key.
Although data tracking can be monotonous after a few weeks, I started to enjoy it when I saw how
the numbers were reflective of the changing trends. In other words, it is no longer
“transferring data to excel” but more of “what causes the numbers to be so and so”.
I also learnt that it is important to voice out concerns and ask for clarifications when in doubt. Localisation is another important aspect to keep
in mind. A certain campaign suitable for one country may not be as suitable for another. So one
must have the foresight to understand this.

Creative Department
My stint at Reebonz gave me a taste of what working life is actually like.
Work was very fast paced. It made me speak up
more and build my communication skills.
In terms of my design, I learnt new creative artwork styles like flash banners, and worked
extensively on Photoshop which deepened and strengthened my knowledge about the software,
something I rarely get to use in school.

It is essential to be detail-oriented and be able to think on your feet. I used to think such traits are only more applicable to certain careers e.g. event
planning, but that is definitely not the case.
In situations where work load can be high, prioritizing your tasks plays an even bigger role
and one would need to be more adaptable towards the change in work order or workload.
It is also crucial to take initiative and have the
drive to learn and grow. This would allow us to be more involved with the organization and work
together with everyone to achieve company goals.
