Producers of AFFF- and FFFP-foam concentrates :

Replacement of PFOS-based fluorosurfactants by telomer-based fluorosurfactants, if not already used

Advantage of telomer based Fluorosurfactants:

Fluorine part approximately 30-60% smaller than with PFOS without changing the performance

no PFOS during the production, as reaction aid, as by-product or waste

momentarily, there is no substitute for fluorosurfactants and there won‘t be a substitute in the near future

AFFF and FFFP will further be produced, as there is no substitute

But telomer fluorosurfactants are also persistent:

Looking for readily bio-degradable fluorosurfactants
